Last week she had triplets and has since developed a very rare blood and kidney disease called Hemolytic Uremia Syndrome. She had the triplets so early because she developed toxemia and preeclamsia so they admitted her and a week later had a C-section.
This disease is so rare that the hospital she's in...one of the best in the country...has only seen this happen twice in 25 years.
Right now they are giving her treatments that will filter out her infected blood and they are replacing it with good plasma. As of a few days ago, it wasn't working but they continue to try.
Yesterday she was able to see and hold her babies and it's lifted her spirits just a little.
Her family and friends are devastated by this and can only hope and pray that she'll pull through.
Thanks everyone.

This is very sad. Our hopes and well wishes go out to your friend, the babies, and her family and friends.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes, hugs and prayers. I don't have anything new to report on...I've been waiting to receive a return phone call from her sister.
The babies are all doing ok. I got a chance to see them last week...they're definitely tiny, but not as tiny as I thought babies who only weighed between 2 lbs 11 oz and 3 pounds would be.

Oh ...my thoughts and prayers are with you. My friend of over 20 years is going in for C section this week and I can only imagine how you feel. I would be a mess. Hang in there.
