Could you share your DJ, what's included (# of hrs, dj and mc?), and how much it costs?
I really have no idea how to start.
Did you interview them only? watch them at a showcase? dvd? word of mouth?

I would listen to your DJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to a showcase once and the DJ was so bad it sounded like a car radio. He had no back up equip, one speaker was shot, his emcee mispronounced names and mumbled into the mic. It was so bad half the people walked out. My DJ is great. I heard him at a showcase and it was the middle of winter in a foot and a half of snow. Not one person from his group was missing. The other DJ had three missing because of the snow. My guy is so reliable!! I heard him do a trial and during the interview he gave me honeymoon tips as well as let me watch a DVD he did of a wedding and a sweet 16 in a little movie theatre he has set up in the office. He also gave me a mini light/fog show. He is great. If you want more info send me a FM. Hope I helped

I found out about my DJ through one of my bridesmaids at her wedding. I have SO MUCH fun at her wedding I knew that day I would book him for mine. My suggestion is to see if you can see the Dj at a showcase and decide from there. I am using DJ Mike Nappi from Flexmusic. His brother is Tommy Nappi from KTU so the music gene runs in the family...lol If you'd like send him an email and ask if he'll be showcasing anywhere. [email protected] He is reasonably priced. I am paying 1,200 for him, an MC and an assistant who will take pictures throughout the party. I am also getting a few screens (I forgot how many) and a giveaway package. XOXOXO Kitty

I am having a band but my friend used Starlight Express and they were excellent. I have heard great things about Body Rock and High Voltage.
Most Dj's/Entertainment companies have upcoming showcases listed on their website. In the case of Dj's/bands I think it's worth going to see then at a showcase.

I booked Unlimited Entertainment. I heard them play at our taste testing. I met with Eddie and he is a sweetheart. We are getting the reception and the cocktail hour total of 5 hours. We are getting the DJ and MC. We took the middle package and it includesmore giveaways and intelligent lighting cause FH likes that stuff. He showed us a dvd of of the MC and how they work and sound. we are using elite sounds run by dj johnny budz of KTU
we are getting a live musician for cocktail hour 5 hour reception we get a light person, dj, mc, and rodee we got the percussionest for during the recption we are getting the intellegent lighting custom gobos, fog machine, confetti cannons and give aways

we are using vj entertainment
we have 4 hours with a dj/mc
we have a light show/fog not sure if we going to use it yet and we are adding him for ceremonny music

We are using Vinny from High Voltage, he is very fair. He was about $1,000 less then other DJ's I went to.... Plus he has excellent reviews.

I booked Vinny also. We are getting a DJ and MC for 4 hours (no lights or give aways) for $1095. I went with him through word of mouth and meeting with him. I live in NC, so I couldn't see him in a showcase.
We negotiated--and got a good price. but it was over $2K
they specialize in multi-cultural music
they had a special presentation 'sound room' and gave us a show with the lights and such. and we saw a DVD of a wedding. we were hooked

FM Entertainment DJ/MC 5 Hours of music (Thats Cocktail Hour and Reception) Light Package I also got extra light package due to the size of my room. I picked out a few give aways. I think thats it. total is $1,100.00 They have a showcase that shows what they sould like it really helps.
