Please suggest a FABULOUS trip that I can treat my mom to..

I would like treat my mom to a great trip as part of her birthday gift and thank you for my wedding.

There are a few things to consider...

My mom is on dialysis so our trip must be short (3 days max)...

Last year we went to the Bahamas for 5 days and dialysis had to be paid for in CASH ($2000 for 2 treatments)! Her insurance will only cover dialysis within the US.

I was thinking perhaps stay at a fancy hotel in NYC and get spa treatments, go to a Broadway show, and a great dinner..... this is my fall back option.

We can fly somewhere on Friday afternoon and come back on Monday. Ladies, I really want this to be special because my mom is turning 65!

I was also thinking vegas since we have never been. what do you think? do you think the cost would get out of hand??

Please suggest trips or hotels that would be great for a big weekend out.

NYC sounds awesome!!!

What about a weekend in the Country... out by the vineyards. You can stay B&Bs and vineyard hop.

OK! I totally agree with GURNEYS. They have a saltwater pool there... supposed to be VERY good for your skin and bones.

And they have a great variety of therapies there... massage..etc...and the view is breathtaking!!

Canyon Ranch in Lenox, Massachusetts. One of THE top spas in the country. A few days there is life altering.

i recently went to the spa at norwich inn in connecticut. it is owned by foxwoods (so free shuttle buses to and from the casino). the spa is really nice, with daily wine tastings, cheese and crackers, art displays etc. the spa treatments are great and the restaurant is really good (people eat lunch there in their spa robes). It's really not that far from here (1.5 hrs) but still felt like we were away.

it IS pricey but it includes gourmet meals, meetings with nutritionists, fitness classes, hiking, etc... and you get an allowance towards spa services.
