PLEASE tell me this is NOT happening UPDATED BELOW

I am hoping that from stress and exhaustion I fell asleep at the computer and I'm having just a stress nightmare because this can NOT be happening right now.

My priest finally told me 2 weeks ago that the church singer has a CD. I tried calling the rectory 100000 times and never got through. Finally I got it today. I listened to it and called and emailed the singer with some questions.

THIS is the response I got:


'Hi Jennifer,

Got your message, was at my sons baseball game and did not hear the phone.

Sunday is Fathers Day so I will be with my dad and will not be able to sing/play for your wedding unfortunately but I will get someone for you!

I don`t know who it is yet because my friend Steve who usually covers for me has a 5p Mass in Howard Beach. I will call him tomorrow and see if he can do it.... you never know.

Whoever does cover for me... I will let them know of your requests. '


Really. REALLY?!?!?! 4 and a half days before my wedding you decide to tell me this? And like WHEN was he planning to find a replacement? It sounds like it just occurred to him. 'You never know'? Yeah just leave it up in the air. It's not like I have anything important going on this week,

Oh and I know I ONLY booked my wedding 18 months ago, so I guess he didn't have time to decide to not show up and find a replacement.

That is absurd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should try getting them on the phone and nicely voice your concern and anxiety regarding the issue (I would definitely cry as an added effect). Let them know that you are worried, stressed and concerned as this is important to you. Maybe a little guilt trip might work.

Seriously, 4 days before! Unbelievable.

Call tomorrow....everything will work out and remember- 'Everything happens for a reason!'

It will work out, there are always hiccups with a wedding. Hopefully this is yours and it will be smooth sailing from here on out.

4 days is absurd

I would talk to her and the rectory. An hour out of her life on Father's Fay is not a big deal. If she is the chosen singer for your Church, she should be there or she should have told you months ago. Totally wrong and unprofessional

sometimes i fee like churches do whatever they want and think you cant get mad at them, because, well its church.

and FIRST of all why cant he put the hour aside on that day for your wedding, like you have had planned for 18 months. its NOT like your asking him to give up the entire friggin day!

I'd make a huge stink and tell them this is unacceptable!

I'd be so annoyed, too. Did you specifically pick this person, or were they assigned to you by the church?

This is the church person who does all of the weddings.

If I had just filled out the sheet and brought it to the rehearsal and not had specific questions, I'm pretty sure he would have just not shown up and I'd have NO music on my wedding day.

I would LOVE to talk to the replacement, but apparently we don't even know who the replacement is. He acts like the email is the first hes heard about my wedding and he's just starting to look for a replacement now.
