I'm not sure at this point that I could do that....

Edited: You can definitely pull it off! You've got plenty of time to get the rings. Do you mean is it weird because you don't have an engagement ring yet? That's not weird at all! So many people do that! You definitely don't need a ring to be engaged!

Do it! Sometimes there are additional factors beyond timing, why do we wait so long anyway! Everything will get done, you may just have to devote time and employ an army of family/friends to help, but go for it! I am also getting married in August, we have been engaged since last August. And if I started now, I think we could still get everything I've already taken care of done, you just have to be flexible and open to vendors you want to use at this point, because your first choices may be booked!

not at all - do it!! I've seen people plan weddings in only 4 months!!! It is totally do-able.

if the rings don't show up on time, just use fake ones - no one else will know the difference.

We did things in a short amount of time, out of order and on a very tight budget! Three weeks before my wedding I still had no ring for me, no flowers, no video, no transportation, no dress for fmil, no flower girl basket, etc, etc, etc. Slowly but surely its coming together. I think anything can be done.

I dont see how the ring holding you up is crazy!

Do it how it works for you.

If you get married with 'fake' rings, so be it. It will come weather you can afford it now, or later.

You are doing great!!!

do you mean the engagement ring or wedding bands?

regardless, it doesn't matter ...

a lot of people are engaged without an engaement ring ... having a ring is not the thing that defines yoru relationship.

and as a few ohters suggested re: wedding bands, if they don't show up on time, just buy cheap ones and use those

Both! I have his ring picked out but he insist on seeing it first. I picked mine and it's all paid for we just can't get it because of the store's privacy policy! Only he can pick up (he is in another state)

I love the idea of using fake ones though - but that wont be necessary!

wait, as in, you will have no ring on the date of your wedding?

you don't have to do everything in order. there is no hard and set way or rules to do it only one way.

your cutting it close, but you can definately plan a wedding in short notice.

if your going the formal wedding route, make sure you book the limo's, florists, photographer, and videographer if your using one, and the RH and you should look into where you are having your ceremony...

other than that, you should be ok.

but i don't know if i would be ok with not having my rings for the wedding - but not sure if i misunderstood that part...

I do't think it's crazy at all. It looks like you have things well underway. Don't let the rings be the deciding factor of when you should get married. Some people don't even have a wedding at all and they still get married, and that's totally okay. The most important part is that you are ready to take your relationship to the next level and make a life long commitment to the person you love. So screw the ring and go for it.

No. We will have the rings on the day! i just dont have it now.
I think my issue is just that I am doing all this and no ring on my finger! i know its silly but it's just how i feel! But we will have our rings on the wedding day! Real Ones lol!

I think what your doing is perfect. If I could id get married tomorrow. What made us wait was finances. 2 wks is short notice, 6 mos is very doable and incredibly romantic! So no ur NOT crazy.

key thing I would imagine is not to panic
besides as aforementioned, you can always use faux rings to exchange vows with in the interim.

No one will notice and then you'll have time after to search for rings calmly..

not at all. the ring is a symbol. Grab that RH fast.

are u kidding me? Ive been only engaged for less than a month! Of course you can plan a wedding in a small amount of time.

Dont let the not having the ring make you feel its unofficial.
