Please tell me why i should use your reception hall!!

It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. A good place for you if you want it on the water is Lands End. My cousin got married their last year, and everything was great. The problem with that place is its about $140 to $180 pp with out tax (or something crazy like that).
I am getting married at the Hamlet because I thought the place was very nice. It was in my price range, they let me start anytime I want since I am the only bride. There is only a 100 min on Sunday and Friday nights. There's a hotel next door and down the road for the drunks at the party.

I would start by making a complete budget, and then figuring from that what you can afford. Most places do not include a DJ, photographer, videographer, but there are some places that offer cheaper package deals. Bridal attendants were included everywhere I looked, as were cocktail hour and sit down dinner. Buffets were generally a little cheaper the places I looked. Which month are you looking? Different months can be quite different in price.

Once you know if you can spend $25,000 total or whatever, then you can decide on the percentage for each category, and what you can spare (video, limos, etc). There is a good planning guide in terms of budget on the knot. Good luck.

Let's see, you asked a lot of questions. My reception hall, like most is not a whole 'package' deal. Stay away from those unless you're on a really small budget. Those places are usually wedding chop shops and their video, photography or DJ service is exactly what you pay for. (low end)
The Vineyard's provide open bar, (centerpieces can be included, though I chose to buy my own real flower centerpieces) cocktail hour, sit down dinner (5 courses I think), on a vineyard, with bridal attendant and white glove service. Lots of other stuff like I purchased my favors directly from them. (wine bottles, of course!) All other services are separate. (photo, video, DJ, flowers, limo, etc.) 105 pp for a Saturday night in October. hope that helps, any more questions feel free to send me FM.

Yes I totally agree you need to look at your budget.
First figure out how much total you want to spend.
Then approximate how much you would want to spend on each item.

You can get ideas on here on what people spent on each item, but you will also get ideas when you get quotes from the vendors.

Did you say you were looking for a place on the water? I had my wedding at Land's End and it was great. It is a little pricey but worth every dollar. It really depends on what you are able to spend. I thought the service, food, location and everything was great. You can get a little bit of a cheaper price if you do it from October-April on a Friday Night or Sunday afternoon, but not much. They do not have package deals but what they offer for the CH and the dinner is great and the food is delish. It is a great location for pictures. The liquor is all top shelf.

East wind has excellant food & service! You get a full cocktail which includes everything from cheeses-pasta & carving stations & many many more. Full open bar with sit down dinner with 6 choices for each table. And mini vieanese with cookies & pastries on each table & wedding cake. Bridal atten & plenty of beautiful places to take pics indoor & out. So much to mention but i really adore this place.

Depending on the day you want & if there is extras u want, mine was about $109 PP with tax & grad.

Vanderbilt Mansion in Oakdale....b/c it is private, on a river, tastefully decorated, has amazing food, multiple options for ceremony (3) and I only hear great things about it on this board as well as from friends. It is moderately priced compared to mst places on the island.
Everything above is included except dj,videographer,photography, ice sculptures, centerpieces.
