we need to have a headcount on our rsvps - i feel like most people wont understand the simpliest of instructions. i need help spelling this out...and to make it MORE complicated, we ALSO need a headcount for our Thanksgiving Dinner that we're hosting the night before for our out-of-town guests. both rsvp lines will be on two seperate cards - i'd like them both to be the same so its easier (but of course, i dont have as much room on the Thanksgiving card).
as of now we have (on wedding invite)
M_________________________
We have reserved __ seat(s) in your honor
___accept(s) with pleasure ____ guest(s)will attend ___ decline(s) with regret
and on the thanksgiving invite we have
__ of __ will attend ___unable to attend
One of my friends thought that the '___ guests will attend' line is misleading bc for example, someone who is invited as a single person, may think 'guest' is THEIR guest and not themselves (valid point).
and just because we reserve 2 seats, doesnt mean that that person will necessarily bring a guest. and they may not fill that in.
Im worried if I remove the '__ guests will attend line', we wont get an accurate headcount.
1) should i update that line to '____ number of attendees' 2) remove the '__ seats in your honor' and change the whole thing to: ___ of ___ accept(s) with pleasure ___ decline(s) with regret
And some folks may decide to bring a guest to Thanksgiving, even if they're not invited to the wedding with one - and thats fine with us. so how would i fill in both guest numbers if they're going to be different?

It's confusing that you have accepts with pleasure and guests will attend. To me that's saying the same thing so maybe you should think about eliminating one of those lines. As long as you put 'and guest' on the front of the envelope, that person should know to include their guests' response on the response card.
I hope I didn't make it more complicated.

I agree with the previous bride with eliminating that line...I am doing the same thing with a head count..either lines would work

I agree with this. I've seen this done before and it is far less confusing to guests.

awesome - thank you all very much. really this invitation stuff has been by far the worst part for me. its so stressful.
and yes, i hope we dont over-stress ourselves either. but knowing the way i operate, we probably will...

I did this and it worked out fine. Trust me its going to be a headache no matter what you do

I am doing the same thing with ___ seats reserved in your honor. I agree with just eliminating one of those lines because it sounds repetitive.

i don't know if its worth driving yourself crazy. these are your wedding guests, if you have a question, you can just ask them. you know there are still going to be people that fill this out wrong, no matter what you write. I have about 20 people invited 'and guest' i just put
