Plus 1 Etiquette

Ok ladies...do what's the rule when it comes down to plus ones??? We have friends on our lists that are currently no in relationships...however, they will be there with other friends...some of whom are married/in a relationship. Do you give single people a plus one??

HELP!!!!

I'm not sure what the actual rules are, or what proper etiquette is... but i've made up my own lol

I am NOT giving plus 1's to single people.

I am NOT giving plus 1's to people who are in a new relationship.

All married people, engaged, living together and serious relationships will get a plus 1.

Re: Plus 1 Etiquette

We didn't give the single people plus 1.

I mapped it out like this: I figured friends that have been in a relationship for years and we knew them, we put both there names on the envelope. Others, we just put one name.

But be careful, some people do not understand this concept and think we have money to blow on someone they will bring. It's annoying. But if someone asks you, you simply tell them it's for a monetary reason - nothing personal. You have family that you HAD to invite, and you wanted to be able to invite your close friends and you have a minimum to meet. As time gets closer and you find that your numbers are lower, you will tell them (if you want to) they may bring a guest and have them give you the name so you know who it is.

Some people will understand, some won't. I find that if my single friends knew each other than what was the big deal? And then you may have a friend or two that knows no one but you and FH...I have 2, so I gave them a guest option. One of them reply only for himself and the other is bringing a guest.

HTH :)

ITA!!

If a friend is in some sort of a relationship, they get the plus one but MAKE SURE you get their guests name, it just looks so much classier than 'and guest'

any other random people don't get a plus one. If I have a good friend who is not in a relationship but I think would benefit from having someone there (someone not in the close circle, out of town, etc), then I'll put guest as well. But I think I will only have a few of those.

I thought it was anyone over 18 should be invited with +1. That is what I am doing, even though I know my single friends/cousins will probably not bring anyone. I feel they should have the option.

edited for spelling

In advance... I know that family won't be getting plus 1's. His family is HUGE. I can just see the drama there.

My friends prob. will, but I'll make an A list and B list to decide in the end based on how many people I have. I mean.. if guests REALLY want to bring a date... if I have room (aka: if I'm somehow under the minimum), then they can bring a +1

I am pretty sure we are doing plus one for everyone over 18. I think its the right thing to do imo. Everyone sees this topic differently including my FH but I would always feel more comfortable giving people the option.

I would love to give everyone over 18 a plus one, but I don't know if that will be possible.

As of now, if FH and I have met and hungout with the 'plus 1' then they will be invited. I just think it seems wierd to invite a plus one we never met before...

All married will obviously have a plus one

I totally agree. I would hate to have someone come and feel alone at my wedding. I don't have many single people that I have to worry about though, so I don't have a problem with the plus 1s.
