we invited everyone with a plus 1 cause we figured they might be dating someone and we just dont know since we have a lot of OOT guests. but a lot of people aren't even bringing a plus 1 and we're below our minimum so it worked out lol.
This is what we're doing. At first I was against it... but I kinda realized he was right... anyone we know who's not attached is a) in the BP, which means they deserve the courtesy or b) someone close to us who deserves the courtesy or c) someone who won't know too many people so they also deserve the courtesy.

I invite everyone with a +1, many will RSVP as one, but I left the door open. Plus i hated when I wasn't given a guest, so i would just send a gift (check)

but the random people i dont know at my wedding wont bother me... out of 275-300 people being there... i doubt i would even notice

Sorry, ITA with your FH. We invited everyone over 18 with a plus one, but very few chose to bring someone, mostly just friends- only one or two family members opted to bring a guest.

i feel your pain. i couldn't have my wedding if i invited everyone plus 1. each of my single guests will have at least 6-7 (super close) friends at the wedding, so i really don't feel that bad.

The thing is we wanted a small wedding- it started out around 60 people. it worked its way up to 100 people- we are now up to 118! Almost double than what we originally wanted.
After this it stops- no more adding on any 3rd or 4th cousins or neighbors of aunts and uncles. Its going to stop!
We aren't doing everyone plus 1. SO many of our friends are single, that if we did everyone plus 1 we'd be inviting like 100 random people. Not happening.

I refuse to do +1's for everyone because my cousin's will bring their friends and thats not happening. JMO.
just wanted to add that my MOH was invited with a +1 and she's bringing her younger brother. definitely not the type of plus 1 i had in mind and it annoyed me and my FH.
We did plus one for just about everyone, but I know a lot of people don't. I guess it depends on the situation but I think most people really prefer to have a date at a wedding and I'd like my guests to enjoy themselves. Several of my +1 declined to bring a guest anyway so it really didn't matter. In the past I didn't go to a wedding I was invited to because I wasn't invited with a guest (I had never heard of not being invited with a guest at the time).
