A friedn of mine and me picked the same BM dresses. She had a few of her girls try them on and there all different sizes. Here is a pic. she said there good for any size or shape girl.
No empire waistes, stick to A-line it is flattering on everyone!! I am a little on the chubby side and was convinced that I couldn't wear a strapless gown. Actually the strapless gowns were more flattering that any I tried on with straps/sleeves. Here is a style that would be flattering on all sizes. I would sugest something with a little rouching on the tummy.
My girls range in sizes. I have a picture of the dress that my girls are wearing in my album. We got the dresses at David's Bridal.

This dress is perfect for Plus Sizes. It's very similar to my wedding dress (pics in album) and I was amazed at how I looked when I put it on. I thought I was going to look like a whale, but it really tucked everythign away and flattered me to the point where me and my sister couldn't get our jaws off of the floor. Rouching below the chest and a slant is perfect.

I'm a plus size and all the empire waists looked better than the princess or the basque - it's dependent on your height. You have to be careful with the aysmmetrical ruching - some designs do it well, some look chunky, best to see them on an individual. There's always the option of choosing a fabric, length, and color and letting them pick the dress/separates. You could even go so far as to pick the fabric, length, color, and skirt style and just let them pick the most appropriate tops. If you go with an A-line or circle skirt it won't matter what size they are,
