Plus Size Dress Shopping Suggestions

Does anyone have suggestions on dress shops that have a large selection of plus size sample dresses? I am almost dreading going dress shopping. And I don't want to feel that way. I don't want to be shown only a handful of dresses that I could actually try on.

Do any brides out there have positive experiences to share?

try the bridal suite in centereach or you can always go to davids just a thought! gooduck in your search!!

RK bridal! Most of their samples are 12/14 and they also have several 18+ racks.

I got my dress at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue. I tried on a ton of dresses and even if they don't zip all the way I was definitely able to get them on. Ask for Stephanie. She was so helpful and friendly and made me feel totally comfortable. Good luck!

Did you shop at Bridal Suite in Centerach? I ask because when I went there years ago for BM dress, the associate held the two sides of the zipper together with a pants hanger.

The places I went to all held the dresses closed with a giant clamp...or clipped the sides of the dress to my bra.

Of course! I know they are going to have to do something like that when trying on dresses. But a pants hanger was just ridiculous.

ok so basicly i was suppose to get married back in 08 to someone else and went there for my gown i had to get an 18 and when i tried on the sample it was not a plus size. but they just didnt zip it up they only clamped the parts that could be clamped but did not use a hanger

I had a great experience at the Bridal Suite of Bayshore. They had a ton of plus size dresses that fit me easily. I wear a street size 18.

i second the vote for Bridal suite of bay shore. I am a street size 18 as well and was able to try on any dress i wanted, with the help of clamps!

I went to the following places and was able to try on many plus sized dresses (I am a street size 18/20)
Helens of Commack
Paradise Bridal in Patchogue
Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point

I had an issue finding a store that had more than 10 gowns in plus size. Lestan Bridal in Brooklyn was the best. I live in Suffolk and was concerned about the ride but it wasn't bad at all. Collette helped me and she was so sweet!!!! Every gown in the store is a 12 or higher (mostly all the ones I tried on were 16).
