Plus size Mother of the Groom

Do Macy's, Bloomingdales, Sax and/or Lord and Taylor carry plus sizes? My FMIL told me that she may need a special store. I don't want to be rude, but I have no idea where to shop for nice gowns in larger sizes. I was planning on taking my mom to the stores I mentioned to buy her dress and invited FMIL, but she's concerned they won't carry her size.

If you go to a bridal salon, I suspect you can order up to size 24 for some designers.... Ladies, correct me if I'm wrong!

I'd hate for her to have to pay extra b/c of this. Maybe I should take my mom shopping ahead of time, let her get her dress, then we both take my FMIL to stores that would be better suited for her. I can ask at Macy's bridal when I'm there this weekend with the girls, my mom will also be there so maybe she can look around.

Are there other stores in Walt Whitman that may have plus size gowns? That's the mall I was thinking of taking the mom's to, but I didn't even think of the size issue. My mom's a petite little thing and probably needs just that - petites. So I have 2 extremes on my hands... it's never easy!

Macy's, Bloomies, and Saks I know for sure have plus size sections. Not sure about Lord & Taylor. I think Saks calls their section Salon Z. Check on their Websites. You may also want to try the flagship stores since they tend to have the largest selection. I had a similar problem with bridesmaids and we found that at bridal salons, Mother of the Bride/Groom dresses not only run in larger sizes but often times the dresses are available to try on too.

In addition, why don't you take her to Estelles. They have a large selection of things and it is relatively inexpensive!

Try Totally You on Merrick in Wantagh they have Many different styles in ALL sizes to try on!

Macy's bridal suite has plus sizes, or they 'Queen Of Hearts' I dont know the location but I believe that the its in west suffolk or east nassau

I used to work in lord and taylor in the womens sectoin.. i did dress alot of ladies for their son/daughters weddings...
there isn't a huge selectoion at most LNT's but threes a nice spread and lots of women left feeling happy and gorgeous!

DEFINITELY TRY QUEEN OF HEARTS!!!!

I believe it's in Merrick and they ONLY sell plus size MOB and MOG dresses! My mother is ordering from there, the women are sooooooooo nice and don't make you feel awkward at all!!!!

My mother is a plus size. She looked at macy's and lord and taylor and didn't like their styles on her.

She found a store called Coldwater Creek - they have one in the Huntington Mall (or just go to the online store) and she found a beautiful dress from their web site that she ordered in her size.

My mother is plus size. For my sister's '04 wedding she bought her dress at Queen of Hearts. For my wedding she bought her dress at Lord & Taylor at Walt Whitman. I'll add that my MIL who is at the opposite end of the spectrum also bought her dress at Lord & Taylor at Walt Whitman.
