Plus size Wedding Gown

Anyone knows the best place to get plus size wedding gowns besides David's Bridal. I went to RK Bridal and the choices are slim and nothing my style.

I'm a size14 in dresses but 20-24 in bridal gowns. I don't want the typical pus size dresses buts something sexy. Hope you ladies can help me.

RK Bridal doesn't have a lot? I'm actually planning to go there next month to look at dresses. I had heard they had a good selection of plus size. And I'm a bigger girl than you. Will probably have to rethink things now. :(

I think Estelle's Dressy Dresses had a decent collection. I know one girl who was also plus size who went to Bridal Suite of Bay Shore.

Rk.had a ton, the most in fact, I'm very surprised you didn't find anything! I don't know what style you are looking for though. I tried on all tight fit and flare and mermaids....
I also went to fantasia in rocky point, bridal suite of centereach if your willing to travel there is this place caked the curvy bride in nj only plus sizes(only an hr or of nyc, but they were a little more money bc they don't charge tax. It was like $50 if u add tax to what ny charged for the same dress) hope that helps

I just read about the Curvy Bride. Not sure if I will go to Jersey, but I plan to go to RK Bridal still. Do you know if RK had some sheath and lacey dresses in Plus size? Any dress in my style I like seems to cost an arm and a leg.

I got my dress at Thea Tora in Sayville. Kristen (the owner) is amazing and I am a plus size girl and she had the perfect choices for my body type. She has a small boutique but it's so worth going to. hth

RK have a decent amount but none my style. I didn't see much of lace in plus size but you should still check them out. You may find something you like. I will give them another try and hope I find something.

I personally think that fashion designers can create fabulous designs and proper fitting dress to match with your size and taste.Instead of searching tons of bridal online stores,it is better to search for a best dress designer.

Ugh I wrote out this whole long answer to u yesterday.....idk where it is!!
Anyway rk had a ton of lace gowns with bling bc that's what I was looking for. They have (or at least had in March) a center rack with like 75-10 plus size gowns. Then they also had a clearance take off the rack section in the back too. Idk about sheath gowns bc I didn't try on that style. Good luck!!

Aw, that sucks. I hate when that happens.

I plan to still go to RK Bridal. With my budget, I will probably end up with off the rack anyway, which is more than okay with me. If I don't find anything there, I have a back up plan. Where did you end up getting your dress anyway?

If u want off the rack also try ny bridal outlet in Farmingdale! That's basically what they r, discounted dresses from their partner store village bridal BUT not a huge plus size selection! Also I'd make the trip to vows in Massachusetts too if I were u!
I got a Maggie Sottero dress, the best part about Maggie's dresses is that every store has to charge the same $ per the designer! So to make a long story short, my grandma dream was to buy me my gown from kleinfelds, she passed away 10 days after we got engaged. I went to kleinfeld in her honor thinking there was no way I could afford a dress from there since they told me over the phone dresses start at $2500 ( which was over what my grandparents budgeted) well bc of Maggie's policy I was able to get my dress from there just like my grandma wanted for a price well within budget!!

I heard about NY Bridal Outlet. It's not far from my work, lol. I did not know that about Maggie Sottero, that's something I will look into. I liked a couple of her dresses.

Literally, my budget is $700 and under. I'm looking for a really simple, no frills, informal dress; it's so hard to find in my size; I've seen so many strapless ball gowns in my size. I don't care if the dress is from a collection 2 or 3 years ago. I may end up at David's Bridal with that budget, but wanted to give other places a shot.

Id say Maggie range around $1000. Fantasia has alit of alfred Angelo gowns and those tend to be under $1000. I know it's far but a $1200 Maggie gown at vows will.probably be marked down to $600! My guess u would have the most luck at vows then rk then ny bridal out let. Hth

Thanks for the suggestions. Dress shopping is more stressful than venue searching!

My other route I am going is my ex-coworker's aunt actually designs for Dessy, who makes a dress I really like (not sure if it'll fit me nice lol). I haven't been able to find the dress in stores (RK Bridal only has it online), so she is going to try to find the dress for me in a store or I may have to go to the office in the city if they have it in stock.

I tried on a beautiful plus size mori lee dress at bridal suite of bayshore. I remember it was under $900 and I was shocked!! It definitely looked like it was worth more. It was a simple but sexy fit and flare/mermaid style. At first I shied away from this style, but was truly amazed at how flattering it was! Maybe if you catch it during a trunk show, you can get it for under $800, and it wont be a sample off the rack. Plus, the price of alterations at the store were way less than other stores..and I've been dress shopping for 2 months and went to many stores across Long Island!

First thing - who said you were a 20-24 in wedding gowns? I normally wear a size 12 and my consultant said they pretty much always run 2 or 3 sizes larger than your normal size (which would be a 18-20 for you).

Anyway, I went to bridal suite in bayshore and they had a ton of dresses. They had multiples of each dress, mostly in an 8 and an 18 and then they'd adjust them.

The dress I tried on and chose was a 12 and I had to order a 16, but still completely fell in love with it. Definitely try there - and try to get Joann. She was great.

Try mori lee she has a plus size line. Juliet I think it's called. They carry them at RK.

I'm a bridal size 8 which I know is smaller but everywhere I went I tried on size 14 and was clipped in. To the point I thought samples only came in 12s and 14s. So it's odd that RK didn't have anything. Sheath dresses I didn't try on because they are not as forgiving. But I did try on a lot of lace.

Try paradise bridal out east. They seems to have a good selection (but they were pricey) you can always try it there but order it somewhere else.

Bridal suite of Bayshore was good. The day I went , there were 4 brides including myself and all of the girls were plus size. They carry maggie and mori lee there.

Good luck!

Edit: by the way, the girls name at bridal suite (Bayshore) was Tammy or Tara. Something like that. Ask for her, she was really good at figuring out body types.

I'm also alittle stressed right now! I made an appointment with Kleinfelds but now I'm about to cancel because I didn't know the minimum price for a dress is 2500! I'm looking for a cute, unique short dress...something sweetheart on top and fluffy at the bottom but not seeing anything in plus size :(

I don't know where to start. Called Helens and they have maybe like 3 plus size dresses. I think I'll try bridal Suite of Bayshore. Anyone know price ranges for Bridal Reflections Massapequa and their plus size selection?

If u like Maggie sottero she is the only designer they have under 2k that's where I got my dress. Maggie didn't let any store charge different! I got it for the exact fame price it was on long island! Hope that helps!!

BR in massapequa ranges from $1500-6000. They actually have the ranges of each location posted on their website, which is helpful. Also, I wouldn't recommend going to Kleinfeld if you don't plan on purchasing a dress. I did.. It was slightly over my budget, but also a kleinfeld exclusive, which is definitely how they get you! I wanted to go so I could have their HUGE selection as a tool to find what I liked and what silhouette looked good on me. It defining didn't end up working out like that.
