So, my BFF is coming for a visit in January and we're going dress shopping!! While I'm totally excited about that, I'm not totally excited about being a plus sized bride. I'm working to not be by October, but for now I am, so I need to keep that in mind when dress shopping.
Do you ladies have any recommendations on where to shop? I made an appointment at David's Bridal to start, but also wanted to see what else is out there.

Lillette's in Bellmore had several. I don't know exactly what designers they have, but I went there strictly to look at Maggie Sottero.

So exciting. I'm plus sized (I was a street size 20 at the time of my wedding) and here is where I went: Davids Bridal (They had the most avialable to try on. Even if you don't wanna buy try on as many as possible because you can get an idea of which styles work best for you)
Helens in Commack. The girl there was awesome at getting me into the dresses that were a bit too small for me just so I could get an idea.
Fantasia Bridal in rocky point. They had a lot of ones I could try on and were really nice.
Paradise Bridal in Patchogue. I wound up finding my dress here. They have a lot of bad reviews, but my experience was very pleasant. I wrote more about it in my review, but make sure you give them a fake wedding date of a month prior to when you are actually getting married and you wont' have a problem. If you can, ask for Fanny, she's so nice!

fantasia bridal was recommended to me too for bridesmaids dresses and I had a terrible experience.... I heard RK bridal in Brooklyn and Burton's in Huntington

I also recommend Helen's in Commack. I'm a 14 and all the dresses I tried on ranged from 12 to 20 and there were many more I didn't try on. I worked with Liz who I LOVED. I really wanted to order my dress from them but they don't carry the Allure brand.

Lestan Bridal in Brooklyn (on Ralph Ave) was the best place. When I went to other places I could only try on a few dresses and it was discouraging. All of Lestan's dresses are 14 or up and they carry Maggie Sottero, Allure, etc. I was nervous when pulling up because it is in a shopping center and dresses are in the basement but it was a great experience and worth the drive. I also liked Helen's in Commack.
