One of the girls in my bridal party is an 18/20 in street clothes, all of the bridal stores I seem to contact don't carry BM dresses that large in the store, can anyone suggest any places with a good selection of dresses that will work for my whole BP?
How can that be? Usually the dress will come in whatever size you order it. As for trying it on she will just have to make due. I know it's hard bc of my shoulders I have to order a 16 and have it altered down to a 10. The biggest size I can find in my dress to try on was a 12. Try the Bridal world in commack. They seemed to help me and Phylis from Bridal Elegance referred me to them for the bigger size to try on. Good Luck

Thanks, I didn't try bridal world. Yes you can order dresses in any size, but I want everyone to have the same experience so I would prefer to rule out stores that can't accomodate the whole BP when deciding on a dress.

Though I haven't begun the search myself, I've seen that David's Bridal offers dresses ranging from petite to plus.
I guess you could check them out.

you can try renate's in lindenhurst. alfred angelo carries all sizes. 0-28 and 16W-28W.

Almost all bridesmaids dresses come in plus sizes, one of my girls is 18/20 as well and had no problem getting the dress. The problem is the manufacters do not send samples in those sizes. That is what the bridal shop told me. I went to Angel Bridals in east islip and they were pretty helpful.

I have heard that Angel bridal in Staten island has a ton of plus size dresses to try on...and the owner is plus size so you feel comfy...thats where i will be going to look for my dresses since in a plus size bride :0) so nice that you are thinking of your bridal party in this way good luck!

I have several plus size BMs and I am plus size myself...just like most of the dresses I tried on were too small, so were the BM dresses. My girls did the best they could to see what the dress would look like...and we used my MOH as a model since most of the dresses fit her...but the dresses we ordered come up to a size 28...They are After Six...

I'm a 16, and I didn't get to try on any dress in my size at the bridal suite. most don't accomodate anything over a 12 as a sample dress.
I wouldn't worry about it, she can see the dress on someone else, and order her correct size.

Thanks everyone, I'll try those places. And i guess it really isn't that big of a deal if she doesn't try it on, it's just that I know that she was upset about sample sizes, when I was ordering my gown.

I read on Kleinfelds website that they have plus size bridesmade dresses at the Bridesmaid loft...

You can have the girls try on styles of dresses at someplace like Davids where the samples come in larger sizes...this way the girls can see what cuts look best on them...then you can order a dress from any designer in that cut and in their size. This is what we are doing...another thing we are doing is BM Separates so that the girls can pick the same color and general style, but a cut that is flattering to their body type. good luck!

I had all of my bridesmaids come shopping, and three out of seven fit into the sample dresses, so they were our official models. I can tell you that Macy's Bridal doesn't have bridesmaid dress samples in plus sizes (at least not the dresses I was looking at).

I have 2 BM's that are the same size and Davids Bridal had the most amount of dresses in there sizes to try on.

Hi LoveBug!
As far as getting the BM's to try on dresses, I'm giving up! Most of my girls are plus size, and have not been able to try any of the size 8- 10 sample dresses on at any of the stores. Just pick an A-line dress, and you should be fine. I think I am going to go with this dress for my girls, as it looks to be the most flattering (the wide sash will hide the belly bumps!)
By the way, I met you and your FH at Woodbury CC! I was there with my FH for the DJ showcase. Wasn't it hysterical when that drum rolled away! Here's a pic of the dress I will probably go with. It's by Bill Levkoff.
