pocketfold girls..

..especially girls that used her, how much (on average) would you say it cost to mail out your invitations (not including the rsvp card stamp)?

also, which stamp(s) did you use?

I made personalized stamps from zazzle for both the rsvp and the actual invite. I wanted to cover my tush so i think we ordered the stamps for the invite at $1.64 each.

I took my sample to the post office on Saturday- and they said because of the size (not the weight) it's 1.08. I ordered the wedding cake (.64) and the white roses (.44) for the invites, and the purple pansies for the response.

This! They said because our invite was square, the postage is automatically $1.08. I purposely didnt use any ribbons or enhancements to keep the cost down..didnt realize the shape mattered!!

this buuuuuut it depends on which post office that you go to. one post office quoted me less b/c he considered it a standard envelope and another one quoted me more b/c it was square. i went w/ the square one and paying more for fear of having them all sent back to the house!

we got the wedding cake and the wedding rings as our stamps

Ours were just over the 2 oz. mark, so we couldn't use just one 61 cent stamp - we needed 78 cents. But eh 17 cent stamp is really ugly, so we just ended up putting one 61 cent wedding cake stamp, plus one 44 cent purple pansies stamp. It ended up being cheaper than making our own 78 cent stamps (they can be really pricey!)

Just make sure when you have your entire invitation done, take one to the post office an have them weigh it. Also make sure you hand cancel them yourself.

ETA: We had a 5x7 invitation. Square invites cost more.
