Does $.78 sound about right for the cost of mailing these things? Or is that way off? I went to two different post offices and they both said $.78. I thought I had read somewhere on here that someone weighed theirs and it was over a dollar.

It depends, are they rectangular or square?
If they're rectangular, that might be right, because it would be classified as a standard first class mail piece. If they're square, they have to be classified as 'flat rate', which is automatically more money.
My square pocketfold sample with 4 inserts weighed in at 2 oz. flat rate, so $1.05 to mail.

Yes, I remember you posting that...that's what made me nervous when they said it was $.78 BUT mine are rectangle. I emailed Tessa and she said that every post office is different. Some of them say it's a standard envelope while others think it's too rigid and will consider it a small package. I am going to put 2 stamps! Keep your fingers crossed for me that it is accurate!!! :-/

Every person's invite will be different because of the size (square or rectangle) and what is in it and the card-stock weight used.
Mine were square and cost $1.

Mine were 5x7 pocketfolds with 5 inserts and a buckle - .79 ea They charge extra if there is something 'bumpy' inside too.

Okay, that makes me feel better! I have 3 inserts (+ RSVP envelope), no buckle, but the tag in the front gives it a little bump...not a crazy bump...just a little bit.

Sounds like I had a similar invite to you and my postage was 1.05. Already mailed out. I went to the main post office near 34th street to confirm. Ive seen some girls say theirs were only .79 so I guess it just depends... on what I dont know sorry I cant be more of a help.

Ok, isn't this so frustrating? I love how the US postal service gives different info on a given day or location or employee. I had the square invites - was told 1.00 (prior to the increase) - had to mail one out after the increase and was told it was up to 1.05...but then went to the same place to mail one more and was told 0.78. Grrrr. So annoying. I would think if they told you 0.78, go with it.
