Pocketfold Invites

To all the crafty brides, I need a step by step guide to pocketfold invites. I don't have a clue! Thank you!

If you go on the DIY board, girls on there have tons of instructions!

Or I am pretty sure Vanessa is our Queen of DIY for the 2010 girls so far.

I'm seriously not an expert or anything, I just really love paper. I know lurkers are probably reading this board and thinking, 'who the hell do that b!tch think she is, she ain't no diy queen.' lol. i really appreciate that people like the diys i did and I am more than willing to help others, but i am humble and don't want to be recognized as some sort of diy masiah. lol.

With that being said:

Pocketfolds are an amazing diy project to take on because they can be as basic or exstravagant as you want to make them. Some people have the mid-section of the pocketfold with only the invite, while other double or triple layer the actual invite to what is called background mats. When it comes to the insert prortion of the pocketfold, you can include as little or as many inserts as you'd like. The most complex thing about pocketfolds is just making sure that your measurements are on point so that the look is uniformed. It honestly is not as hard as it may look, just time, patience, a good printer (if u choose to print them yourself), and a handy paper cutter (if u choose to cut them yourself).

I have manipulated the margins in microsoft word so that I can have as many templates on a page. Doing that was somewhat stressful, but once you have those things in place, everything else is a breeze. I'm having Kinkos cut my paper for me because I need to draw the line to the madness somewhere!

In terms of paper options...the options are pretty much endless. Stores like paper presentations is a great source for ideas, but I personally bought all most of my paper products online because it was the exact same thing just much cheaper.

Any other questions, I'd be more than glad to answer but their are also plenty of talented diy ladies

All the pics of the DIY girls make it looks so easy, but it sounds complicated. I'd like to give it a try, but at the same time I'm completely intimidated.

Re: Pocketfold Invites

there are several posts with instructions on the DIY board.

I bought Cover weight Paper in 6x18 size, to make a 6x6 pocketfold. You make 2 folds at 3 inches, one becomes the Pocket, One becomes the over flap, then measure in 6 inches from those folds and fold it there. Use Double stick tape, glue, what have you to adhere the pocket down, and you have a pocket fold :)

Sort of like that, and one of the 2 3 inch areas folds up.

ETA (I worked when I typed it, give me a second

Thats great how you were able to make your invites by Word, they are really gorgeous and so professionally looking. I gotta try to do my own also because none of the invites that can be purchased online or thru catalogs appeal to me and just look boring and the prices are insane. Thanks for inspiring me

aww, you're welcome. I felt the same way you did. nothing in the catalogs appealed to me either, and from what i hear from other people, the quality of paper (in terms of weight) wasn't so great.

The paper isn't good at all, i've ordered a few samples and once i get it i'm like wth is this, X amount of dollars for this? Even rexcraft their samples were not that really appealing once you were holding them. My theme is tricky so i can't find anything that has the shade of green i like with damask accents so i guess i really have no choice.
