pocketfolds

Can I ask all of those that DIY or ordered how much you actually spent. I tried to do the DIY route and I was pulling my hair out. I got quoted $280 for all the stuff but I had to print them all and assemble. Then I got quoted $400 to have it all done for me. Im figuring after labor and ink and all- am I saving $$ doing the DIY route?
Any suggestions? HELP!!!

Re: pocketfolds

how many invitations are you talking about?

I can't imagine doing over a hundred..... the stress relief may be worth the $$$....

yeah, I'd seriously debate that.... they're hard enough to address.... unless you mail it out to that cheap calligrapher (http://www.afineletter.com/)

Invitations are so annoying Even just coaxing the addresses out of your family is difficult!

pocket folds are about that. Unless you buy the pocket fold itself then purchase paper somewhere else and print it out yourself then ensemble. Only way you save money.

I say paying the extra $$ is worth it.
I am doing pocketfolds by myself and it is starting to stress me out a bit.

Re: pocketfolds

its costing me about 2.50 for each pocketfold i'm doin...which is about 160 invites...its not that bad, b/c i spread it out over the past two weeks....i got the pocket folds from paper presentation...envelops from paper direct and the inserts from office max....(linen paper and white cardstock.)

i'll try to post pics laster this week....i'm not that technogically advanced

I definitely would have saved money going the DIY route... but with 2 kids and a full time job and about 4000 other things to do on a daily basis... it wasn't happening. So I ordered them and seriously could not be happier. I have Michelle Clark doing my calligraphy and that is THAT! :)

Re: pocketfolds

I had to go back to my spreadsheet to figure out costs for you.

I ordered 75 pocketfolds, cardstock, RSVP envelopes and invite envelopes for $237. This includes cardstock that I used to do the monogram on the front of the invite, matting and cardstock that I'll be using to print menus, rehearsal dinner invites, favor tags, programs, thank you notes that I'm DIY'ing as well and probably other things. I really think I saved myself a lot of money.

I want to add that I did not even go through more ink cartridges until after my invites were done.

Here's a pic of mine.

Re: pocketfolds

I bought my paper and envelopes at EnvelopeMall

They were the cheapest that I found that had the color that I needed. I ordered samples from them over the phone and asked questions. They were really helpful. I had my samples two days later. Once I ordered, I think it took two or three days - tops.

I was going to do some DIY pocketfolds as well, but then as I started pricing it and thinking of all the time it would take, I decided to purchase them.

same here! this is funny, i was working on this very same issue this afternoon and was wondering the same thing. I figured to buy the paper from cards and pockets would be about $230 for 100. Then I tried printing out some samples on some cardstock I had and my printer kept printing it landscape instead of portait and the color was off and I got irritated and said to hell with it and decided to shop around for price quotes.
So far its looking like just over $400 which is significantly more, but it includes:
- the RSVP envelope, which I hadn't figured into the cost
-printing on the RSVP envelope,
-and one place will print the guest addresses for an only an additional $25.

Plus I'm guessing it will look slightly more professional, since I don't feel %100 confident of my artistic abilities. And no buying ink cartridges. And I won't have to buy a new printer which I probably would have had to do once I got good and frustrated with my current one and threw it against the wall

so yeah. i am going to buy. but for you ladies who are DIY, more power to you, I admire your patience and skills!
