my uncle wants to buy a vacation house in the poconos (near skiing, white water rafting, all activities, etc.--in the 'heart' of it all!!)........does anyone know what towns to look into and which ones to avoid??TIA

My family has a house in Woodloch Springs in Hawley, PA. Its on a golf course and is a country club.

that is where FH's family has their home. It is right near the outlets (they just got Banana Republic) and Camelback for skiing!
ETA: They live in a gated community - which I think is a great idea.

stay at the gated communities ( a pocono country place for example) . Like the above post said they have the outlets a few miles on they have american candle, a mall, staples target things like that! Hope that helps a bit!
