I have been trying to figure out where we can go on our honeymoon without taking a plane (too much stress for me), and just came across what looks like a perfect vacation-- the Poconos! I'm looking at Caesar's Cove Haven, Pocono Palace, and Skytop Lodge and wondering if anyone has experience with any of those resorts, or any other suggestions in that area? Thanks!

Re: Poconos honeymoons?
We have friends that live in the poconos area so we spend alot of time up there. There is alot to do there, there is a great flea market , horseback riding, pocono candle co., bushkill falls and if you drive around you will find great stuff!!! Last time me and my friends went up there we drove through Caesar's and looks just like the pics. You and your FH should take a drive up there and see if it is something you would like to do.

FH and I went to Caesar's Cove Haven for a long weekend for our six month anniversary (just about 2 years ago now). It was cute. The crowd was older, not sure if that matters to you or not.
For places you can drive, how far are you willing to drive? Since your wedding is early June, if you go south it'll be summery-like weather. What about driving to Hilton Head or the outterbanks of North Carolina?

We have been to Pocono Palace and I really liked it. There was sooooooooo much to do right on the property that we didn't leave until check out
Right in Stroudsburg, there's an outlet mall and a lot of those arts & crafts type places (with home made spreads, blankets, home decorations, etc.)

We went to Pocono Palace back in November. It was a lot of fun. There was a lot to do. It was a little cheesy but that is what made it more enjoyable.

We went a few years back and had a blast. True its a little cheesy and the crowd is a bit older but there is so much to do you enjoy each other so much. I just remembered when we went there there were a few people honeymooning that were a little younger than us so dont worry about it. Have fun!

I don't know much about the Poconos - you really should check out Cape May, NJ - it is soooooooooooo gorgeous. We love it! Its all Victorian Bed & Breakfasts o the ocean. It's about 30 minutes past Atlantic City. I will edit this and add a link for you.cape may B&B
If you don't do it for your honeymoon- its a great weekend getaway, right next door to Wildwood, NJ. Just had to share-

DON'T GO TO THE SKYTOP!!! My FH and I went and it was ALL FAMILIES! Not romantic at all. We were teh only couple there without kids under 60. Plus the rooms for 2 are kinda dumpy.

Re: Poconos honeymoons?
Ooh, thanks for the warning! I was wondering about that. We don't mind family-friendly resorts normally, but for our honeymoon, probably want to stick to places mostly meant for couples.
We're thinking about going to two places-- doing 5 days at one and 4 days at another. Probably Cove Haven will be one, but I'm not sure of the other yet. Doesn't have to be in the Poconos... could be anywhere between here and there... I mostly just want somewhere luxurious and romantic, with plenty of activities.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thank you all so much. Don't know what I would do without you people!

Re: Poconos honeymoons?
P.S. Those who've been to Cove Haven or Pocono Palace, did anyone go fishing? If so, how was it? (FI loves fly fishing. )

I live in philly so we head out to the Poconos once in a while for horse...ur...muleback riding and white water rafting (the white water rafting ROCKS)... really good hiking there too... the Caesar's I've heard can be a little much... you might want to check the local B&B's... I've looked into a few... they can be REALLY nice... also, you should ask Matron... she went to school out there... she knows allllllllll the details!
