Is it cheesy to read a poem (about memories growing up and how special they are to me) that I write about my MOH (my sister) & or Parents at the Rehersal Dinner? Everyone in my family knows that I love to write and they especially know that I am always the one at birthdays and holidays to write mushy cards....so I feel like I want to do this......
So, what do you think? Is anyone else doing something like this at the Rehersal Dinner for MOH or Parents??? I want it to be a really special time for me to say how thankful I am to have them in my life etc...

Re: Is it Cheesy To....
Or maybe....should I write a short one for BM, one for MOH , and one for my Parents for giving us the wedding AND read it right before I give the gifts to each of them????????
Is this silly?

Re: IS THIS CHEESY AT RD?????????????
I don't think it is silly if you are prone to do such a thing..... now me or FH.... that would be ridiculous.

I know my DH and I tend to not get as mushy in public. I wrote all of my BM and my parents emotional messages in their cards, but I prefer to keep that type of thing private--between me and them. In general I don't necessary feel that stuff like that needs to be shared with everyone to be appreciated, but if you want to share it with everyone, then that is certainly your choice. We didn't make a formal 'presenting' of gifts either--we each pulled everyone aside individually and gave them their cards and gifts.
I don't know how your ILs would feel if all of this attention goes to your feelings towards your family and nothing gets publicly acknowledged about them. To keep it equitable, I think I would write them cards with your sentiments.

Well my FH wouldn't have anything to do with it... It was just going to be me doing the writing of the poems.

I'd say go with it. It's funny b/c I was just thinking of doing something similiar myself the other day! I think it would be a nice touch to the RD.

Since I have time tonight....damn chicken pox...I guess I will give the poems a whirl and see how it turns out and if I would really feel comfortable reading them in front of everyone.
Thanks for the opinions girls!!!!
