Point: Long Engagement

2014er crashing!

So I am sure many of you are anxiously awaiting your big day, and may be getting frustrated at how long it is taking! I have been engaged for 2 and a half years already and still have 6 months to go!

However, I thought I would let you know that I just decided to look at my photographer's website and noticed that since I booked them, they have changed their packages- increasing prices and eliminating some features (to be added on for an additional fee). When I did the math, I realized I am saving nearly $1000 simply for booking early!!!

Lock in those prices ladies! Happy planning!

Thanks for the advice! FI and I got engaged this past November and are planning an October 2016 wedding. We're planning to begin venue and photographer hunting this summer because of the exact reason you just said. I want what I want and I want it at the best price possible! Did you have any trouble booking vendors more than two years in advance? I'm really worried about the church in particular not allowing us to book so far ahead (then they get pissy about when you book the venue first.. MAKE UP YOUR MIND PEOPLE!)

We got engaged June 2013 and are planning a November 2015 wedding. I had all of my vendors except florist and limo, booked by August 2013. So that was more than 2 years and I didn't have any issues. Some places though would not give me a definitive price for 2015 they estimated which I didn't like. All of our other vendors we got at the 2013 prices so now I can budget and save accordingly. We had no issue booking with our church either. We had a venue in mind that was holding our date until we met with our church before we officially booked, but the church didn't even ask us about it.
