Polish Brides please help.....

Are you doing the Polish Blessing?? (Bread, salt, wine??) I am italian and have never heard of, nor have I ever seen this done. I just want to know....

FMIL says she wants to do it this way...

Both sets of parents are introduced, then BP walks out, FG and RB, MOH and BM.....then FIL's come meet us at the door with my parents and do the blessing (right before we walk out) then we are introduced.

My DJ and I agree that it should be done after the 1st dance so that everyone can see it, but FMIL said Nope...this is how it goes, it has to be done before we are introduced.

I just find it odd that everyone will be introduced, then everything comes to a dead stop....she does the blessing with a microphone and no one can see her or us, then they walk out again, then we come out.....

opinions please TIA

My best friend is Polish and at her wedding they introduced everyone including the bride & groom. They walked in and did the BP tunnel thing and then went straight to the table for the blessing. The blessing was very quick and then they had their first dance. HTH!

This is what I would like to do because then atleast my family and guest can see (and understand) what is going on. All they will hear is her voice speaking polish (the DJ will announce what she is doing) but they won't see anything. I kind of feel like my family is being left out bc she wants to do it this way....

My friends wedding was half polish and half italian and i have to say, it was really nice that they were introduced, everyone welcomed them and were all standing around the dance floor and then the blessing was done with everyone watching, which was great for everyone who had never seen it before. It was a nice way to share their culture with everyone. I t;hink you're right that it would be weird for it to only be heard and not seen. Tell her that you talked to a bunch of Polish brides and they did the blessing after they were introduced!!

Pre-Ceremony Instructions

check this out!!

http://www.polishamericancenter.org/Wedding.htm

The Maitre'd or band leader introduces the parents, the Bridal Party and then the Bride and Groom. When the parents are introduced, they should walk directly to the front of the main table and wait for the newly married couple. When the Bride and Groom are introduced, the Polish Wedding March should be played by the band. The Bride and Groom circle the dance floor as a general greeting to all of the guests and then proceed to the front of the main table where the ceremony will be conducted with the parents. (The Bridal Party can be seated at the main table or they can gather on each side of the parents to witness the ceremony.)

On a small table in front of the main table should be a tray with the following: a small dish of salt, 2 small slices of rye bread and a glass of wine. When everyone is ready, the Master of Ceremonies should read the following text as the ceremony is conducted.

My ex was polish, so I went to MANY polish weddings, and I always saw this happen at the head table so everyone can see whats going on. Its always after everyone is introduced

I'm doing the Polish Blessing at my wedding and so is my cousin at her's which is a month before mine...we are both doing it right after we get introduced and then we are doing our first dance...my family is VERY traditional Polish and there will be many Polkas played as well but I never saw it done before you were announced...I hope that helps a bit... GOOD LUCK!

Sure I'll call her! .. yeahhh right I just got used to calling my own MIL hahahah .... Have you told her that you want your family to be able to see it because they haven't seen it before, and you think it would be great to bring both families together?
