Political views cause problems?

Political views cause problems?

Does anyones political views conflinct with those within your friend/acquaintance network.
Some of the topics are controversial..Partial birth Abortions, Gay rights...Not everyone is going to agree..
I havent face it yet. Those I surround myself already know how I feel about certain topics and dare not try to change my beliefs but I noticed that when politics come up some friendships can get strained...I ran from these topics at work for that reason. Didnt want to hurt anyone's feelings.

This is exactly the reason why I don't argue politics or religion with anyone. Its just not worth it.

On the car site that I am actually a moderator/admin to... Political debates happen every day. And the conversations get HEATED... to the point where everyone is calling everyone an A$$hole and I have to either edit or delete the posts.

I have friends of various views. We actually like to talk about our differences. IMO the only way to make informed decisions is to expose yourself to different points of view. I do usually leave these discussions with a whole lot more to think about and occasionally change my mind.

I agree. I have had some good discussions that have left me thinking but when it comes down to stuff like same sex marraige, partial birth abortion...its so personal and opposite of a certain group of friends so we just leave it be. Since these issues I will never be swayed on. But definitely we have discussions but I can always tell when its getting heated and I just back up...beep beep and get the hell outta there.
