For your wedding, did you get more money, or more gifts.
This is kind of a spin-off to the cost of weddings thread. My roommate asked me, and my other roommate (getting married in VA) if we'd prefer money or a gift, I immediatly said money, she immediatly said a gift.
Seems that giving a gift is more customery in the south (I got the strangest look when I said money )

My friends from VA and upstate NY also give gifts!! I have been to so many weddings on LI and I have yet to see a person walk into a reception with a gift!! Boy my friends are going to be shocked!!! I wasn't even planning on having a 'gift table'!!!!

A lot of FH's family is from CA and they give gifts there. I hate to admit this but some people have asked us where we are registered (after the shower) and we have said to them, 'Oh, the shower is over and we really have all we need from the registry.' I actually had to register for a whole bunch of things I didn't need or want because I was told by FMIL that they would want to buy gifts. I'll admit that I returned them all to BB&B because we have a lot. We have major home renovations to do and hope to have kids right away. The more $$ we get for the wedding the longer I can stay home.

One of my good friends just went to a wedding in Tennessee. She said it was so strange because they had a HUGE gift table filled with presents. On LI it is almost all $$$$ (maybe because LI weddings cost so much more than Tennessee weddings!)
I would prefer $$$, but I would also be very happy with presents that I had registered for and really needed :)

We got all cash. The only 'non cash' was a GC but thats still pretty much like cash!
