So far most would rather have a house, if anyone cares to elaborate, I'm curious as to why?

Are you career minded and that is why?

This is a tough one. I would love to be able to stay home with my child for at least a couple of years, however, my goal is to have a house before children. I grew up in an apartment with a stay at home mom. It was not terrible at all. I just dont know what I would chose for myself. Sorry that I couldnt be more clear on this.

i would rather tom be a stay at home dad.....i know myself, and if i was at home all day long, i would take care of the kids, and nothing else....and the place would be a mess....

I think it makes more sense to try for the house first. A house is an investment, and if your husband continues working and getting salary increases, maybe eventually you can stay home and have the house.

But I think it's a better idea to go for the house first, while you're still working, and then try to afford the house on just your husband's salary.

We do own our apartment, I do believe this is an investment the same as a house.

I would love to be a stay at home mom but my FH and I already talked about the fact that Long Island is so expensive that it is just not possible...

As far as the house goes, I grew up in a house and loved having a yard to play in. It is just my preference to have my kids (when we have them) grow up in a house. I know plenty of people who grew up in an apartment or in the city and they loved it!

I am a 'country' girl and like it out in suffolk county with a house and a yard.

Do what will make you happy!!!

I picked have a house because financially it's a better choice. Renting is throwing your money away.

It's a tough choice. But I think being home. It depends what is more important to you. For me, staying home with the kids would be ideal, so I would pick the apt. What good is a house if you reallly want to be home with your kids?
