POLL: Are placecards really necessary for the eparty?

POLL: Are placecards really necessary for the eparty?

Yes or no? The e party is at a VFW hall, it's a buffet and not dressy (except for my dress).

I don't think it's necessary per se, but I do appreciate it when I get to a party and I am told where to sit as opposed to going from table to table to see if there is room for us there. Can you tell we are the people that come late?

Jenn seriously don't bother...its a waste of time...you're guests are not retarded....they'll find their own seats. I didn't use em for mine and it worked out fine

I think it's fine w/o them...people can sit wherever, move around, etc. It's more fun w/o them!

so you think the placecards would definitely make it seem formal?

How many people are you having Jenn??? Because we had about 100 at our E-Party and I thought it was a good idea to have place cards. Not necessarily to 'up' the formality but to keep the chaos to a minimum, then if a group of friends wants to all sit a table and they drag chairs from tables, etc. it just seemed a lot easier and sensible to do it that way. I bought paper at AC Moore (with my coupon ) and printed the place cards on my computer. They looked great and were so cheap to make.

ETA: Mine was at a VFW also

Honestly, I think that NOT having placecards at my e-party is the only thing I would have done differently!!!

It was in a restuarant, buffet brunch, and no one really knew where to sit ... everyone just kind of milled around ... and then when they did want to sit, no one knew what do do and different groups got broken up oddly.

Make the placecards!

ETA: we had 75 people

We had about 65 ppl. We did them b/c we didn't want different groups to be broken up.

I always hate when you go to a party and you can't sit with who you want/know/came with.

I bought the printable cards from Michaels for $5 and printed them myself. You could also write them.

i had some made up for my eparty but wound up not using them and everyone sat pretty much where i had them sitting anyway.. i dont think its necessary in a setting like you described.

I had them, because my parents are divorced, so i wanted to make sure that my moms people had their own table, and i wanted to make sure it was a few tables away from my dads table.

I had a buffet as well, and the casino tables, i duno i like doing the table cards, i got the paper at acmoore, its like 25 cents a sheet, and i was able to cut 8 per sheet. and the holders were like a dollar each or soemthing. it was inexpensive.

It didnt take me to long cause i only had like 55 people, and 8 tables,

But then i did the table names, i went to Michaels and got frames for literally 3.99
Printed the names on acmoore paper, and cut them to 5x7
Again inexpensive but i loved how my room looked!
Heres a pic of the table name and i also made menus, courtesy of acmoore

I agree!!! for us it wasn't to set a mood but we HAD to. We had 150 ppl and having that many ppl walking around trying to find a seat would've been hectic. Not only that but with us we had issues about this family member wanting to sit with certain family members and then ppl would get into fights about it, and even with place cards we had an issue beginning of the night.

But this all depends on your guests

i never would have even thought of placecards for an e-party. Its a perfect opportunity to have people mingling and sitting with new people.... no need unless you want them
