Poll: Are you

Tipping the Priest/Deacon or whomever is holding your ceremony. I feel that if we are giving a donation we shouldn have too, but then again dont want to do the wrong thing if mostly everyone tips them. Im so confused. Please help me out and take my poll. If you plan to how much do you plan to give it you dont mind me asking.

I think that $475 for 20 minutes of work is plenty. I don't see any need to tip him.

Yes, we are planning to give something to our priest and the altar servers. I don't remember how much we budgeted, but it's probably about $50 for the priest and $20 for each altar server. FH was an altar boy so he wants to make sure everyone is taken care of!

i have no idea what to tip... i didnt even know that people did tip the priest! hahha... we'll definatly tip the alterboys, it says to in the handbook they gave us. but said nothing about the priest...

We will not be tipping the priest. We did however invite him to the wedding. It is not customary to tip a priest. If he is a family friend you may want to buy him a bottle of his favorite spirit but not a monetary tip.

I was told that it was actually considered rude to tip a priest. We're going to invite him to our reception - he's met with us about 4 times already and is doing a great job of preparing us for marriage...

He also told us that since they are Franciscan priests, they share everything and if he ever wanted money for something, he would have to ask for it since they all share. So if we gave him a tip, I assume he would share it with the other priests so we'd rather have him at our reception. Hopefully he comes.
