POLL: Are you going to have dance lessons before the wedding?
Our song choice is unconventional ('Nobody Does it Better' Carly Simon) and we are desperate to do something besides the 'clutch and sway' as I call it. Thinking about having something fun and a little silly (a reflection of our personalities) choreographed.
Just curious as to how many people did/are doing something like this. If so, and if in NYC - who did you work with?
TIA!

My brother and my SIL took lessons - and it was a hit with the guests. It definitely made the 'first dance' more interesting (and fun).
We have decided, however to NOT take lessons. Our reason is that although it was WONDERFUL watching my bro and SIL dance like pros, it was NERVERACKING to them to get the steps 'right'. The last thing I want to be doing during my first dance as husband and wife is concentrating on dance steps.
It was adorable to see them twirling around that dance floor though..... Amy

FH and I would like to take dancing lessons but will not have a choreographed dance. We went to a wedding this past summer where the bride and groom used a tango as their first dance. It looked very staged and unnatural. We are taking lessons only to learn how to dance better with each other to make EVERY dance look good. Not just the first.

My FH and I are just going to dance to our song the way we always do. We feel that will be more special.

I really wanted to go and learn a nice dance. However, since I broke my foot, and still can't dance we probably going to end up swaying

My BMs are trying to convince their boyfriends (who are also in the BP) to take lessons with us. We are going to have our first dance choreographed and then have a second dance for us and the bp choreographed as well.

Neither one of us has teh slightest idea how to dance so we are trying to get lessons...also I'd like to do something more interesting than clutch and sway since people are going to be watching the first dance.

We're just going to sway. I never slow dance so I even have to practice this. Bump and grind I can handle but I'm nervous about this slow dance stuff.

In NYC, we worked with Kerensa - we had tons of fun at the lessons, and learned more than our first dance. For us, it was one of the most fun parts of wedding planning. Kerensa is really terrific.

We didn't want to be thinking about dance moves and counting in our heads during our first dance....so no lessons for us. We've taken lessons together before but not for that.

We are going to take lessons so we don't have to do the clutch and sway but I want to do it early so by the time we get married we are comfortable because I agree with the the others that you don't want to have to worry about the steps during the first dance.
