I was really set on honeymooning in Bali, Indonesia.. but FI doesn't want to go there anymore b/c of the tsunami...
If you look at the map, Bali was untouched by the tragedy... in fact, from the point of impact and Bali, the distance is like NYC vs. FLorida.
Would you still go there or no?

Re: Poll: Bali, Indonesia
That's a tricky question. Maybe you should call them up to do some research.
How about Fiji???
(I've always wanted to go there!!)

Re: Poll: Bali, Indonesia
My whole reasoning not to go would be the mere fact that it wasnt touched by the tsunami. I figure since it didnt sustain any damage that it would be even more money to stay there since the surrounding areas have so much reconstructing to do. People will be more likely to stay there than go anywhere that was affected. I may be completely wrong about that, though.

don't worry about the tsunami - check with the US embassy on how safe Bali is - I wanted to go last year from Australia and the Australian and US embassy had travel advisories against going for americans and Australians - that is where you find the best information on safety - indonesia is still a strong muslim country don't forgeet that-

Re: Poll: Bali, Indonesia
There are too many issues that keep me from going to that country. Remember they had that bombing in that club there that killed like 300 people or something. That alone would stop me from going. But hten again, I'm a big chicken.
That country is in a terrible state right now. I would not go, for the reason I stated, the tsunami, and other issues.

Re: Poll: Bali, Indonesia
Like you said, Bali has been pretty much unaffected by the tsunami and if you're still gung-ho on going, I would just go. But, I can also understand why your FH is uneasy about it and if he's not going to enjoy himself, than you should probably book something else. As far as being told it's unsafe to go there, it's unsafe for Americans to go lots of places. I actually read an article coming back from our HM that Bali is safer than it has been in years and they welcome America tourists. You'll always hear both sides to that story. Many people will tell you that Jamaica, the DR, and Mexico are unsafe and I've felt very safe and secure at each. Israel isn't the most safe place in the world, but I know people who go there anually and have no problems.

Re: Poll: Bali, Indonesia
i would go...i have always wanted to go but we looked into it and the cheapest airfare we could find was about $3,500/pp and we had to change planes three times! It is supposed to be gorgeous --my FI has been there and loved it! if you don't mind paying that much for airfare i say just go!
