We are trying to decide what to get when we move....I want cable because I want a cable modem...I have DSL now, and I'm not crazy about it. DH wants DISH because we can get more channels for less $$$. Thoughts?

I have both dish and cable and like the cable better only because when it rains very hard out or if there is a lot of snow the dish goes out for hours at a time. Sometimes its only a few minutes but when we get those snowstorms it can be out for 2 days. Also, when the dish network came to install the dish they did such a wondeful job that the first time it raned the satellite fell off the roof and it took them 5 days to come and fix it.

When we lived in our apartment we paid over $120 for 2 TVs and a cable modem. When we bought the house DH wanted his dish back. We have the phone,3 TVs, DSL and tivo on one through direct TV and all of that is less then what we paid for just cable in the old apartment.

what county are you in? I think you're in the same county as me. If so, that means you have Time Warner.
We have the cable/DSL combo with HBO on Demand. We're paying a little over 100 per month

I am in Bergen County...but the cable company is cablevision....and I've heard such horror stories.

I had Dish Network a while ago & had alot of problems with it going out in bad weather & Customer Service was terrible. I now have Direct TV which very rarely do I have a problem with it going out in bad weather and the customer service is wonderful. We get ALOT of channels including the YES Network for DH and it is alot cheaper than cable. We pay about $55 a month. That is for 2 TV's hooked up.

DSL is with Verizon. IP phone??? We have regular phones, we are under their freedom America plan. To be honest, I don't notice a difference between the cable and DSL, I swore I would, I didn't want to give up my cable modem but I really don't see a difference.

The only thing that is truly different was having to install filters on all of our phones but that took 5 seconds

Thanks swags. I have DSL now....and I find that I always have to reset the modem.
Maybe I'll let DH have his way....and we will go with the Dish....because it would be good to save a little $$$$.

I live in Bergen now....and we have Comcast...we are moving (still staying in Bergen) and it is Cablevision over there.

We have cable now and we hate spending the money for it. It's so expensive and you still don't get a ton of channels. We're thinking of switching to Direct but we're afraid of the poor weather problem. Anyone else have any experiences with Direct? I would love to hear feedback.

Cable. My cousin downstairs had direct tv and whenever it rains it goes out. Plus my DH works for cablevision so im partial plus it's free.

we had Direct TV in NY, now we're stuck with cable cuz our apt is on the wrong side of the building. I can NOW see the difference and miss my Direct TV SO MUCH!!!
