i had mine since 16 and DW got one for HM just to make life easier for HM..

however, next year, if you cruise out of a USA port or USA port going to another countries island (mexico, carribean) you will need a passport. and i think the year after that, they are working on canada. (coming back into the country that is)

I read that- they might not do it for mexico and canada- it's just an idea

I called areo mexico- a birth cert and ID are still fine

I got my first when I was a baby. My parents let it lapse and I got my second when I was twelve.

We have family in Europe.

in this geographic... (NY area) it's really hard to see..

But NO ONE I knew ever had a passport when I live in texas... well maybe 5 people in my whole life down there ever had one.

Why bother?

I still don't have one, keep saying Im gonna get one.. but frankly Im lazy.

I have to get one, because Jim needs one and that's motivation.

Yes, I think that's the situation. I've tried to explain to people over here why so many Americans don't have passports...unfortunately most Americans generally get between 2-4 weeks vacation a year (I started with 27 days at my job here in London ) If you live in central America, it takes so darn long to get OUT OF the country, let alone anywhere else!! You'll spend half your vacation travelling. And, America has so many differnt climates that you can have many different types of vacations without ever leaving the country.

But I do think everyone should have a passport...what if you won a great trip and that left tomorrow!!!!
