Okay, so this is the BM dress my girls got. Cheap, cute and they can wear it again. One BM has complained about it being sleeveless. She said she would wear a shrug. If she wears one, they all have to...and the same one....So, to shut her up I said I might get red organza shawls for the girls. Well, this will cost me about $160+ and I hate shawls. No one wears their shawl the same way and I hate how it looks in pictures. Also, they get thrown on a chair for the reception. I feel like it's a waste. So, do I shut her up and piss away money or do I just say no way? UGH!!!!
i think that if you dont want them to wear it then tell them no....and you do not have to buy them.

Thanks...they owe me, it was on sale for $49!!!! I just HATE shawls...but I also hate bitching BMs!!!!

I dont think you should have to buy the shawl- if she was that concerned about the dress being sleeveless- she already had her chance to say something when you guys were buying them (you can tell how bridezilla i am with my girls lol)

Newport News! Well, she said she would be in the wedding as long as the dress wasn't sleeveless.....
ps - I also hate sleeves....so, um, yeah, I ignored that....they got the dresses and she informed me she is wearing a shrug....I don't want 1 shrug and 7 un-shrugged gals....so that is how this started!

I have 4 BMs who are tiny/average and 4 who are chubby...she's one of the chubbier ones. I mean, I am chubby too and I don't normally wear sleeveless but I think we've all been in weddings where we suck it up and do something we don't normally want to do! My friend's wedding photos were awful bc the shawls were on some girls shoulders, other's low on their arms, etc...it just looks awful!!!! UGH!!!!!!

I know my arms are a problem and I wouldn't be able to wear sleaveless, but if she doesn't look bad and wont look bad in pics, then just tell her she looks fine and can't wear the shawl for pics. TS chicky!

i would explain to her that u just dont like the look of shawls for pics and ask if she gets one just not to wear during pics...tell her that u think it will look dumb in pics for only one girl to wear it and u dont feel like u should make everyone buy them for just her, and u dont have the money to shell out for that

You want your BMs to be comfortable and if wearing a shall is what makes her feel comfy than I say let her wear it... but instead of paying an arm and a leg go into the city and dish out $5 for a red pashmina that you can get on the street... you can ask this BM to not wear it for pictures b/c you want everyone to look uniform for the pics but then other than that, she can wear it when and for however long she wants...

The dress you picked out is really cute!
I think it is pretty conservative and considerate of people and different shapes - it looks like it would be really flattering on lots of figures and looks like the top has a lot of support and maybe you could even wear a regular bra?
Very few bridesmaid dresses come with sleeves! I have noticed the style seems to be strapless, so they should be happy that yours at least has nice thick straps.
Maybe just remind her that you tried your best to be considerate of everyone's budget and body type but that you would like everyone to look uniform in the photos and walking down the aisle. If she wants to wear a shawl before/after the photos, then go for it.

The dress is so cute - I love it!
I would want all of my BMs to feel comfortable, but I don't think that you have to buy the shawls. If you want to buy them though, I wouldn't pay too much money, especially since you're going to be getting them bridal party gifts ( you could always make the shawl part of the BMs gifts). Just ask her not to wear the shawl during pics because you're not that crazy about how they look.

That was EXACTLY what I was going to say!! No shawl for pictures, but $5 pashmina afterwards if they're uncomfortable.

I think that the dress is cute and that a shawl wouldn't go with it at all. I do not think you should have to buy them anything. Tell your friend that she is welcome to buy herself a shawl of some sort if she'd like, but for all pics she can't wear it. I don't think that is too much to ask..after all, it's your wedding and will be your wedding album.
