If you are looking in LI (especially Nassau) you won't find much under $350K and even in that range that houses need a ton of work

Sad but that is the reality of life on LI right now.

We are looking in Lake Grove, Lake Ronkonkoma and there are alot of houses under 400,000. We are hoping to find something around the 350,000!

We are doing this with alot of saving and realizing that we are going to have to cut back on our spending habits! But we are lucky to both have good jobs and we have been planning for this for over 2 years so we have saved a lot of money too!

Going this weekend to look at a bunch!

We are in the highest mark there is.. there is NOTHING in a nice area in nassau county for under 350K that isnt extra small..

I agree - it is just what Nassau goes for and requires lots of hardwork and saving! I think this poll is a little low if you are considering many of us are buying in LI and Nassau in particular. Most homes in Nassau start at 350-400...

I agree, Have anyof you noticed if the $$$ of homes is still going up or staying the same .... someone who claimed to be a RE told me they will stay the same for about 10 years before going back up ....

CAN ANY REAL ESTATE AGENTS LEVEL WITH US SHOPPING IN NASSAU OR SUFFOLK FROM ONE LIBRIDE TO ANOTHER- (prices on steady increase or stay the same)???

FH and I are looking in lower Westchester County for a home/townhouse and the way it looks so far, we will probably end up spending close to $500,000.

I don't think anyone knows the answer if the houses will remain the same or go up for sure. Not even the agents. Their guess is as good as anyones.

even if the prices stay the same...interest is on the rise (eg the Dow broke 10K and stayed over for closing yesterday) so expect to see Greenspan if this keeps up

we had to move all the way out to Rocky Point to afford just under $350, but we are happy we did. We love it out here and all we need is right in driving distance.
