About $270. including tax, but not including alterations. They are Vera Wang from the Wedding Salon.

$260 - Vera Wang - w/o alterations

In my defense - my girls WANTED these dresses...they loved them and wouldn't let me find a cheaper alternative - I was lucky!

Mine were about $160 (after tax, before alterations)

My BM gown was $110.00 each. My Jr. BM gown was $61.00, all prices are without sales tax.

Being a bridesmaid a few tooo many times, I can honestly say that 200 or more is a ridiculous price to ask someone to pay

thats your opinion..... i think it depends on what kind of affair you are having

mine were seperates so they skirt part was $79 and then the tops ranged from $49 to $89... I told the girls to pick out which tops they wanted.. I think the most was $180 w/ tax...

It is my opinion. Thats the purpose of these boards. It is inconsiderate to expect people to pay that much no matter what 'type' of affair it is.

There are things more important in life then the Brides wedding (mortgage payment, education, transportation, child care)

Believe me I am guilty of it too, but many brides are so self-absorbed during planning time that they dont see the big picture.

I disagree, I don't think it is ridiculous at all. But I guess it depends on the financial situation of your Bridesmaids, luckily it's not a problem for any of mine.

I really think it depends. The dresses my girls got were $290 without alterations. They were Vera. The girls actually said they were shocked how cheap they were. They said they were ready to spend $500-600. None of them had been BMs before.

It really depends on the budget of your BMs. Fortunately, my BMs spend $300 on shoes alone! So it was no big deal to them.

One other thing....

Where can you find a decent dress for under $200 that you would wear to a wedding anyway? Most of the guests will spend at least that.

I completely agree - I think my girls dresses were about $130 and I picked black so they wouldn't have to bother with dyeable shoes. One of my BM was saving for her wedding, another just bought a house, another is up to her ears in school loans. For my girls and their situations I just couldn't see making them spend a ton of money on a dress they will never wear again.

However, every bridal party and situation is different. I picked the dresses b/c they were inexpensive. If cost was not an issue for my girls then I would have let them loose in the bridal salon and let them pick whatever they wanted.
