POLL: how much for alterations?

I was in complete and utter shock when they tallied up the extra expensives from the alterations and bustle at my first fitting last night, so now I'm wondering how much everyone is paying for theirs?

Mine was capped at $275, and I had to pay all of it, but I'm short and they had to do a ton of alterations, so it was worth it.

Mine was 260 which was for, a hem, a french bustle and to take in the top becasue it was too big

I'm planning on using a local seamstress that was recommended on the knot. She caps alterations at $150. You may want to see if there's anyone in NY that does something similar.

Thank goodness they included alterations at the place where I bought my dress

I paid $250, which was a BARGAIN considering how much work the dress needed.

I think mine are capped at 250 not including the bustle.

I just went Tuesday night for my first fitting... $250 PLUS 175 for the bustle. Crp!

I have visited two seamstresses and they both quoted me between $450 and $550.

I have gone down a couple of sizes since I ordered my dress.

I have two more appointments next week, so hopefully they will be more reasonable.

I actually really lucked out and am using my FH's aunt's seamstress. She used to be the head seamstress at a very popular bridal salon in the Boston area, but opened her own business a few years ago. I haven't even had a fitting yet, but she already guaranteed me that she won't charge me more than $100 for all my alterations.

In my experience, alterations are WAY more expensive if you go through a bridal shop than if you find an independent seamstress (The majority of the brides on the Knot's Boston board use an independent seamstress who's very popular, and I've never heard of someone paying more than $150, even though most of the bridal salons charge about $250 and up).

hem to hollow 100.0 plus I think its 15-25 each bustl so that would be 45-75

I paid about $175 for mine but there was a $250 cap so I didn't have to pay more than that
