POLL: How often do you communicate with your 'day of' wedding planner?

I signed on with a 'day of' coordinator, but the contract I signed states that there will be lots of communication between us up until our wedding (over a year away). She was great over email in the beginning, and then we sent her the first payment and now she is not as quick to respond or as helpful as she first seemed.

For you girls that have day of wedding planners, how often do you touch base?

It depends. When there was an issue that I needed her assistance with a while back, I spoke to her almost everyday. Now, it comes and goes. She's always been good about getting back to me though if I've called or e-mailed her.

Our DOC is Rosalie from Expressions Event Design and she is awesome. I get weekly emails asking if she can help with anything.

Im sure she will reach out at milestones already set (4mths for xyz, etc...)

send her a email or call if your worried...

When there were lulls in planning, Rosalie emailed me about once a week to check on me. If there is stuff going on- like now, as needed. A few times a day.

If you have full wedding planner(she is helping you plan the whole thing is involved in every aspect or almost) then yes you should communicated every week or as needed. (thats the case with mine.)

A day of coordinator isnt helping you plan she is only helping you on the day of the wedding. She will be in contact as the wedding approaches (about 6 to 4 weeks before) so that you and her can go over the contracts etc. But in my opinion a Day of Coordinator doesnt need to be in contact every day or every week with you, she isnt helping you plan, you didnt hire her as your wedding planner you hired her to coordinate your day only.

That said it seems that some girls day of coordinator's call often even when the wedding isnt approaching and thats totally their call and I think above and beyond what they were hired for, but its not requiered.

I say dont be worried if she doesnt call everyday or everyweek, there is no need to really. You will be in contact alot once the wedding approaches.

Thank you for all your responses! It is good to know what other people's experiences are, so I don't overreact and blame my day of coordinator of not being involved enough.

We hired a DOC to make the day itself run smoothly so my family and I don't have to deal with a single problem.

After we initially met and hired her, I called her maybe 2 or 3 times to let her know about a few very important things (changed time of ceremony, booked RD, family situation she needed to be aware of, etc.).

We had a long meeting with her two months prior to the date, another one two weeks ago so she could see the venue, she'll be at my final fitting on Monday and we meet with her one more time before the RD.

My DOC had email problems at one point and she didn't return my email. But, we straightened it out over the phone.

I know what I need to do and I know that I can call her any time with questions or a cry for help, if needed.
