We got engaged in June of 2003 & since the day we announced it people have been asking where we were registered. I still haven’t gone & they keep asking & then have the nerve to get upset! Like I'm inconveniencing them by not being registered when the wedding is over a year away!
I keep thinking I'll change my mind if I do it too soon. I'm a VERY indecisive person but I don't want to wait till the last min.

I say do it whenever you want. We just started our registry at Fortunoff because people have told FMIL that they want to get us something. I was also told that we are getting something that we really didn't want (or need ) so that prompted us to get moving. The list isn't complete but it's started and there are a variety of things.

We were going to wait, since we aren't getting married until October. However, it really helped that we registered before our engagement party. Not everyone bought off the registry, which was fine by us, but others found it much easier. At least we didn't end up with 12 frames and 9 vases.
You can always update it and change it as you want.

well they are asking you so they can get you a gift you will like..... you will get engagement gifts also with out a party..... otherwise it will get too late and they will forget about it
that is why they are asking we got half our registry
we didn't put beding and stuff... jsut dishes and crystal and things like that
you can always return and exchange but from a store you are registered

I would register for things that you would like as engagement presents. Then I would re-register, or update, closer to the wedding for shower gifts. If you register too early you run the risk of having items that may be discontinued..
We are going to register about 8-10 months before the wedding. I figure if anyone was going to give us an engagement present, they would have by now. (We didnt have an e-party)

IMO, it is very to early to register. You can always add or remove items when you want.

I agree...register for picture frames, vases, pots and pans, silverware, good china...then update when it is about 8 months before your wedding. You might pick something now and not like it when you finally get to use it or you can register now and have it discontinued...that happened to me, I registered for some bathroom items, only a few were bought before my shower, then right before my shower I found out it was discontinued and I had to scramble to finish up the set.

Im getting married the month after you because I want to avoid stuff being discontinued, I will register in January 05. I wish I had people asking me where I was registered!!!
