If family is helping you pay for the wedding (your parents, FHs parents) is that a determining factor if you have gone above and beyond your first intended guest list?

i personally don't want to be stuck making polite small talk with random guests i don't give a $hit about, so we're not inviting anyone who's not personally close to us or part of family obligation. FMIL is paying for a portion of the flowers and all of the limos. since we're not getting any help with the reception from either parent, i'm not looking to make accommodations. fortunately, they understand our financial position and wouldn't ask.
