Today on the way home from work I saw a woman on the train on her way home from her 9 to 5 as well.. and let's just say.. she did not leave much to the imagination. I won't mention details. We're adults.. I think you know what I mean.
Question.. is this acceptable professional (and I dare say ethical) behavior in your view?
(Think about the first few episodes of The Apprentice when thinking about this question.)

Re: POLL TIME -- WORK PLACE ATTIRE
I think that if you work in an office then you should not wear mini mini's or very revealing clothing. I think it just opens up a pandora's box of people making comments - and some comments can come off as sexual harassment.
I mean I'm not saying to show your own personal style or to be a bit different by wearing fishnets one day to work but geez, don't become fodder for office gossip either.
But if you work in a place where creativity thrives, like advertising or in a theatre or a clothing store or something more laid back than an office, then you can dress a bit more daring.
I work in a law firm and we still have a business attire always code. It sucks but the partners feel that they have a certain image to maintain. I don't wear suits every day, but I'm not an associate. They do, though. Sucks during hte summer.
In fact I've been told that people actually came and checked to see if women (and not attorneys) were wearing stockings in the summer! I mean come on! It's not like I'd wear flip flops to work. But it's not happened lately (and if there was I'd say something...I mean checking for pantyhose...like they don't have anything better to do?!?) and i've noticed managers dressing a bit more casually in the summer so I do as they do.

Re: POLL TIME -- WORK PLACE ATTIRE
I once worked in an office where a woman was sent home because her skirt was too short (it wasn't underwear-showing, but it was mid-thigh). At my last job someone was sent home for not obeying the 'only closed-toe shoes' rule (it was the shoes that have only a small cut-out at the toe area). Things can be taken too far, but IMO I want respect not for my body, but how I do my job. It is sad enough that completely covered up women are treated differently! Why encourage that.

Creatives or corporates, I do not take women seriously when they are dressed with their 'business' hanging out.
I work in jeans and t-shirts- but I make sure my assets aren't hanging out... It's just not respectable.. we are at work- other people do not want to see it or do not need to be distracted by it.
Impress people with your mind, not your body...

Same here, i work in an ad agency and can dress casual, jeans etc but I ALWAYS look professional. People who dress slutty to work for lack of a better word are looking for attention and asking for comments.

Other: I think you should always try to look professional. I’m guilty of rather being in a droopy sweater and comfy slacks than a skirt. I NEVER wear skirts unless I have to. But I do have nice dress slacks that I do wear with nice dressy shirts. Yes, they dip in front but it’s not too much.
I work for an Insurance Broker. We are pretty moderately dressed in general. There’s always those ‘few’ if you know what I mean.
It’s not our fault we women can’t just get away wearing the same suit week after week. We have options. Some of us choose to play them out. As long as it’s tasteful, why not? At least in my office, the way you dress doesn’t have a positive effect on your position. It can, however, have a negative part as in “Not presenting yourself as personable, knowledgeable, trustworthy and/or professional enough”. Not to say that having 10 ear pierces and a few tattoos will hold you back, but the halter top and mini’s will.

I also voted other. There is nothing wrong with using feminine wiles, but dressing half naked is not the way to do it. I wear suits to work daily and do wear skirt suits and like to look nice, high heels, etc.. I don't like to be in 'men's suits' and I don't wear too many button down shirts- unless they are fitted. My shirts are usually form fitting, but I would not walk around half naked. Basically, i like to look like a woman, but a professional one ; )
