Hey girls.. I'm having a tough time deciding whether or not to book our honeymoon to hawaii with a nonstop flight or one with a lay over?
the nonstop would be way more convenient.. but im kinda scared.. i dont think its normal for a big plane to be in the sky for that long..
so do i suck it up.. or do i just do a lay over flight

Re: Poll- to fly nonstop or not
I hate layovers. I fly to India every few years - direct flight. From NYC it takes around 12-13 hours. I wouldn't want to waste another 3-4 hours for a layover.
I am one of those people that would pay more money for a direct flight someplace.

Re: Poll- to fly nonstop or not
NONSTOP!!!! I've taken a 14 hour flight nonstop, and it's wonderful getting served multiple meals, taking a little nap, watching like 4 movies, rather than getting up in the air only getting ready to land again, and then again. Long flights mean more and better service, and it's perfectly o.k. for a plane to fly that long (the time in the air is the safest part of the whole flight, mechanically speaking!!)

Do it non stop. Listen, I hate flying with a passion. I hold stranger's hands. How bad is that? I don't think there is a flyer out there worse than me. Now coming from a bad flyer, I do think that non stop is better than changing planes for several reasons... One, you don't have to worry about getting on a new plane. Two, you save a TON of time. And three, you know what a pain it is to get your luggage on and off the plane?

Re: Poll- to fly nonstop or not
ive noticed that nonstop flights are less money than ones with 1 or 2 stops...it has to do with taxes and airport surcharges
i say go nonstop....most problems with planes happen during take off or landing anyway....you dont want to double your chances of flyin into a pack of terrorist geese do you??
too soon?

Re: Poll- to fly nonstop or not
i know i don't have what it takes. my back starts aching after 4 hours, and our 7 hour flight to europe was about my breaking point. we're staying w/ friends on the west coast for a few days to break up the flying.

I would rather a direct flight any day. I wish I could get that to St. Lucia.

Re: Poll- to fly nonstop or not
I would just do non-stop. I went to Austraila once and that's a 24 hour flight...over water. It's perfectly normal to have a plane fly that long.

Non stop all the way!!!!!!!!!
I just did 17 hrs non stop and for the hm I am doing it again. I pay to go non stop so as to not delay the trip and also I would hate to have my luggage lost in the transfer!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Poll- to fly nonstop or not
My issue is with taking off... it terrifies me..once im up in the air im ok -- so its DEF non-stop for me. The fewer takeoff's the better!!!

Re: Poll- to fly nonstop or not
I get crampy in a plane after about 4 hours (I'm a fairly tall woman). . .so I always try to break up my flights. Gives me an excuse to 'see' somewhere new!!!
The first time I flew cross country to Portland, OR, I couldn't get a direct flight for the morning that I was leaving, so I had a 2.5 hour layover in Salt Lake City. I took a cab into the city for an hour and a half--gave me some time to see a city I otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity to ever visit. (Plus, it gave me a chance to see some of the places referenced in the episode of South Park where they talk about the origins of the Mormon religion. I had the refrain, 'dumb dumb dumb dumb duuuuuuuumb!' stuck in my head for the entire 90 minute sightseeing tour!!)

Definitely go non stop. Why waste valuable honeymoon time transferring planes
