POLL: Were YOU ever a wedding guest no-show?

I was once. I honestly and truely woke up VERY sick the morning of that wedding. And, believe me when I tell you- I STILL feel bad about it. In the back of my mind, I keep telling myself that I should have forced my way through the wedding and reception.

However, I've only been invited to about 5.

I was once a non-repsonder (I never sent my RSVP back).

It was horrible, one of my best friends from college. It was in New Hampshire, and I was halfway there when I called to see how my father was feeling (he was in the hospital for a mild stroke, and had insisted that I go to the wedding). That was when I found out that he had had a seizure that morning (his first), so I turned around and went home. I left the most tearful message for my friend ever. We've gotten together since then and I made her tell me every single detail!

I have never been one...and after having 11 no shows at my wedding I will NEVER be one...no-shows (when it's not an emergency or illness) are icky! My 11 no shows have yet to call..only one person called and said he made it home too late and decided not to go.

unfortunatley my grandfather passed away this year and we had a wedding for the same day he was getting burried. We missed the ceremony but made it to the reception. I called the bride and left a voice mail to let her know that we would be late. I felt so horrible at both events but I smiled for the photos and made sure when she saw me that I was smiling and enjoying myself. Other than that I try to reply before the RSVP date and attend.
But for illness and death I completely understand that people cannot come. It happens.

i was a no show just 2 weeks ago... it was a sunday day wedding and i had my outfit and everything picked out and ready long ago already. but my parents got into a car accident the friday afternoon before that. and although i hate to miss the wedding, i called my friends immediately to tell them we couldn't make it. my parents' health is definitely more important than attending the wedding.

It happened at my sisters wedding. She had a final count of 190 and 180 showed up. There were legitimate medical emergencies and the meals meant for those guests simply went to the band.

i have never been a no-show. after going through all this, i don't think i'll ever be a no-show, w/o a good reason. death and illness are the ony acceptable reasons to me

I have never been, I think it's rude, unless it was a matter of emergency, like illness. But I've seen people not shown up simply because they weren't in the mood, or changed their minds and I think it's wrong.

me too....but thats because the invite arrived 2 weeks after the RSVP date...with only one week until the wedding....The bride called me the next day to ask if I was coming. I told her that I only recieved the invite the day before...and I need to see if I could make travel arrangements. I never attempted to make travel arrangements or call the bride back. I was P.O. that she had the nerve to call me the day after I received the invite.

I did the same thing, I never RSVPed to 2 weddings. One was an old friend that I had not spoken to in 5 years and forgot...the other was a High school friend and had not spoken with her and well...no excuses I am BAD and just waiting for 'what goes around comes around' for my wedding.
