Antique settings can only accomodate a RB or oval, possibly. The princess cut is too modern for the look/era...nor do the emerald cuts (absolutely beautiful on their own!) mesh well with the antique look either.

Would you change your stones completely, Shamma??

I currently have an emerald cut I would keep all my stones the same, I just want the antique outer part, get what I am saying?? Maybe with pave diamond on the side, like Susans ring. I love that look immensly.

I hear ya. I think the Emerald cuts are beautiful - they look like liquid, imo.

Mine has the pave set diamonds...love it. It could work - I'm sure a jeweller could draw something up for you...I guess I just can't imagine the 2 looks melded together.

Shamma - I am having mine re-set that way as well.....I love that antique look....they are so beautiful.
And while I know waht CP is saying, you can replicate it with any cut. This I know, b/c I used to work for Tiffany's and learned alot about this.
Infact, my great grandmothers ring was a square cut....(I don't think they called it princess back then)

Sq cut is different than Princess - the latter is a fairly new cut...30 years maybe?

Of course anything can be done...I just wouldn't expect a PC or EC to *look* like an antique just b/c it's in that setting. That's also why most places that just sell antique settings will hesitate to put new RBs into the settings. This is just my opinion - I did a fair amount of research through the years on Antique rings...since that was the only style I was ever interested in.

My ring actaully has a much higher center setting than shown. The center in 1.27 with .35 on each side

I just got a new center stone for mine. It is a 1.53 carat princess cut with 2 small 1/8 carat round side stones in a high Tiffany setting! I waited 10 years for this ring!

Here is both my wedding band and engagement ring! I miss them both, I can't wear them anymore my hands are too swollen.

Here is mine. Cushion Cut Platinum. Similar to CP's setting.

I decided I didnt want a diamond, I really wanted something different. So I asked for a Sapphire so my FH got me a 2.5 carat ceylon sapphire (oval-extremely unusual blueish-violet color) set in white gold with 16 pricess cut diamonds on the sides (8 on each) about 1.00carat total.

My e-ring is very special to me. It belonged to my great grandmother (who I get my middle name from).

It has an Old European Cut diamond with a diamond baguette on each side. The setting is platinum with four prongs. (It looks similar to Buttafli1277's ring on page 3 of this thread, except the center stone is smaller.)

I love it so much!

My ring is a 1.7 carat emerald cut diamond in the middle with two baguettes on the side set in platinum. The baguettes come out to 1/2 a carat. I can never find something on line and I have not taken a pic. When I do I will post !!! I love this ring !!!
