I just stopped 2 months ago because I was going blind from my migraines about once a week. Once a month I dealt with it, but it was getting too bad and expensive (migraine prescription). I haven't had a headache since!

The pill was giving you migraines?

A couple of the higher dose pills I was on gave me horrible migraines. I was puking from them every other day. I had to stop them too, but it took my body nearly a year to regulate my hormone levels again and stop having the migraines.

Wow, the VERY same thing happened to me .. and this was after I'd been on the pill (Ortho TriCyclen) for quite a few years. Never had a migraine in my life, but they started and were unbearable . Once I got off the pill, they lessened (I still get them, but not nearly as often...)

I hear GREAT things about the patch (Ortho-Evra..) I haven't been on it but was thinking of trying it (once I'm given the OK by my gyno .. she's making me take a break from all types of BC ever since the migraine thing)

Yep. Well, if you are likely to get them without taking the pill, the estrogin increases the chances of it. I was on a really low dose for my last one, and it was fine for almost a year. Then I started getting them more frequently. I get aura before my migraines which is partial loss of vision for about 20 minutes before the migraine. It was getting frustrating at work when I had meetings or work to do on the computer. The last few months of taking the pill I was getting bad stomach pains and throwing up after drinking 2 beers within 6 hours. Very strange. I didn't think that part was from the pill, but as soon as I stopped...that all stopped. Now I can pound beers again :).
The body is very weird. My gyno said he'll give me another pill but I want to give it a rest for a while. Back to condoms! My gyno said FH may not like them, I might not...I told FH this and he said tell the doc it is fine, it gives him an exrtra minute or two!

I was on the Pill...28 day for SO many years and then we switched to condoms after we got married so we could 'prep' for TTC

I loved the pill and I miss it dearly. BUT, health comes first. You knew exactly when you were getting your monthly friend, it was so light and so short. Now it is back to the complete opposite. Stinks!

I used to be on ortho novum, but I started to get headaches on my off week so I switched to a lower dose pill - microgestrin FE - and I am much better! I tried the patch for a month and was SOOOOO miserable - it was itchy and left red welts where the patch was!

I was on microestrogen too! That was my last one, a really low dose and my migraines came back so i had to stop

Ortho-tricyclen.

Can't wait to get off it!! It's the best of them in my opinion, but if I can be on nothing I will be thrilled. They make me kind of nutty.

I've already told FH that even if we aren't ready to have a baby yet, I'm going off the pill after the HM and we will have to use another method for a while.

I was on Ortho Novum when I was getting the migraines (hmmm... anyone see a pattern) then I was switched to Desogen, which made the migraines less intense but I still got them. Then I went off the pill for four years, and was put back it (Levlen 28) for ovarian cysts. So far so good.

Yes! I always knew in the back of my head that the pill was increasing my migraines but I was in denial. I finally gave in and gave it up.

Thia migraine thing is scaring me! I was planning on going on the pill very soon now that FH has his ownplace and we're actually going to spend time together. But since I already gt migraines and I have a ton of other health probs, I feel like I probably shouldn't, but I'm so scared of getting PG with condoms.. ahhhhh

I suffer from migraines & have been a headache sufferer since my early teens. I am so suprised by everyone saying the pill gave them headaches! I was on the pill until two months ago for nearly 14 years and my migraine patterns have not changed as of yet.

Really interesting to me ... I never heard of the pill bringing on headaches! I really am stunned no doctor ever even mentioned it to me. Bizarre!

I dont take the pill. We use condoms.
