POLL: When to tip the seamstress?
Please help. If you want to add how much or what percentage of the fee you tipped, that would be great too

Re: POLL: When to tip the seamstress?
I didn't tip her at all. I wasn't that happy with the job she did. It didn't even occur to me to tip her, however. This is one of those times that I figure they are being paid handsomely for the work they do and I wasn't giving them a penny more - alterations almost doubled the cost of my dress. JMO

Re: POLL: When to tip the seamstress?
I tipped her the day I was going to pick up my dress and try it on one last time. I waited to tip her until I was satisfied with all the alterations.

That's about what I was planning, depending on what the total cost is.
I am definitely going to tip hewr for saving my dress when there is no way in hell I was going to fit into it.

I didn't tip her at all. Actually I forgot
But I wouldn't have anyway unless she went super out of her way for something-above & Beyond.
Well I guess I am no help!

Same here ... although I wasn't 'not happy', I was just already paying too much (in my opinion) and saw no reason to tip.

Same here. I don't plan on tipping. The woman owns the business and will get 100% profit.

Re: POLL: When to tip the seamstress?
Hmmm. Ok, well I'm using the seamstress from RK so the $ definitely doesn't go directly in her pocket. I have to pay for the alterations at the second fitting so I was thinking of tipping her then but I guess you're right, it doesn't make sense to tip before the end result (this always makes me leary with manicures). But, I'm concerned she won't be there when I pick my dress up.
Wait, the third fitting and when you pick the dress up are 2 different things right?

Re: POLL: When to tip the seamstress?
Yes, they are different and my experience was that the dress was fine UNTIL the last fitting and she tried to talk me out of coming in to try it on one last time. I couldn't even get it zipped, when it fit fine a week before. I would recommend if you are going to tip, wait until you pick it up. They will fit you the last time, and then they don't want you trying it on again, because they clean and/or press the dress after the last try-on.
