this is interesting! i have to tell FI about this 'unofficial poll'. i didn't grow up in the US (FI grew up here) so when FI told me at the beginning of our engagement that it's the brides family who pays for the wedding, i sortta freaked out. thank goodness that is not the case nowadays!
we're getting some help but most of the expenses will be shouldered by us.

We are paying the pp cost, FIL's are paying for some extras (Viennese, Linens package) and my Dad is contrbuting a few K toward everything.... so I guess we're all splitting it but FH and I are paying the largest percentage.

FH parents are paying for most of it (RH, church, dj, photog, video, decor, limo etc.) My mom paid for my dress and veil and shes paying for the bridal shower. My FH and I are paying for wedding bands and small extras. We are very fortunate, we wouldnt have been able to have a wedding if we were paying for it on our own.

DH and I paid for everything. We went 50/50. My mom paid for my dress, flutes, cake set and necklace. My veil, slip and bracelet were borrowed.

my parents are paying for the reception, my cinderella carriage, my dress, veil and shoes! WOW they are good to me!!!
my godmother is paying for the DOC and Card box (so far)
FH parents are paying for rehearsal dinner and invitations (so far)
FH & I are paying for limos, DJ, Photo/video, Favors, flowers, church, honeymoon, rings.. and whatever else there is... lol...

I chose other. My parents paid for the reception, the photographer, videographer, flowers, invitations. My FIL and MIL paid for our DJ, and gave us a very generous wedding gift before the wedding which helped us pay for a lot of things, in part the honeymoon. I bought all my girls' dresses for them (7 Melissa Sweet dresses x $248 plus tax) as their gift, which was a lot. DH and I paid for our programs, menus, favors. I bought plate chargers which was about $400. It was a group effort, but my parents paid for most of the big stuff. Oh and DH and I gave $1000 cash on the day of for all the tips.

combination: my parents are paying for the RH (we paid one payment before they took over) and we are paying for everything else (vendors, etc). my mom is paying for my dress and my shower. FH's father i believe is covering the RD. I think thats it!

Our parents are paying for the reception hall (his parents are paying for their guests, my parents are paying for our guests). My mom helped me out with my dress, veil and shoes. FH and I are paying for everything else.
