Poll- who is paying for your wedding
My finance and I are paying for 99.9% of the wedding ourselves. My Dad/stepmom are paying for my dress and headpiece. My Mom is paying for my ceremony music. I am not looking for more financial help but most of my close friends and many of my co-workers have had their parents help them pay for their reception costs. The other day my stepmom mentioned to me that she has not heard of any parents really paying for wedding costs anymore. Most of her friends paid for their daughter's wedding gown and that was it. So, I am just curious...are most of you paying for 99.9% of the wedding yourselves? I appreciate all input.

We're paying for most of it, but our parents contributions will be about 30%. Also, I know of 3 brides (friends of mine) that had 100% paid by their parents.

We are paying for about 90%. My mother gave us her wedding gift early to help pay some of the expense. I think I have been to one maybe two weddings where the bride's parents paid the whole thing. Most of my friends are in the same situation where the couple pays a bulk of it and the parents help out with certain vendors or something.

When we first were engaged, we expected to pay for it our selves. Now between his parents and my father we are paying for half. Most of my friends parents paid for their weddings.

My parents paid for the wedding, my in-laws paid for the rehearsal, and my grandmother paid for the honeymoon. We were very lucky and extremely grateful! Michele

My parents are giving Mike and I $10,000 (which will be about half the cost of the wedding), my future mother-in-law is paying for the DJ and the rehearsal dinner and we are paying the rest. :)

If this helps-- My parents wedding gift was the entire wedding reception. My hubby and i paid for the DJ,little sundries and the photographer. My mother in law paid for the flowers and favors. My mom insisted on paying for my dress and headpiece. That is how my parents are. The girls in the family get their reception as their wedding gift.

We're paying for about 75%. My mom is helping us out with the rest. FH's parents are paying for the rehearsal dinner. Most of my friends weddings have been paid by the bride's parents.

We paid for the flowers, limos, band, ceremony fees (including music), favors, photographer and video, hair stylist, bride's shoes & accessories, invitations and postage, bridal party gifts, and honeymoon, as well as a couple thousand dollars as part of the initial deposits for the reception location. My husband and I figured out that we still spent about $25K. My parents paid for the bridal shower, the balance of the reception costs (as our wedding gift), my dress/headpiece and the deposit for our invitation order. Grooms parents paid for our cake, rehearsal dinner and some transportation.

My parents are giving us $15000 (I am assuming this is our present)...We could have had that pay for almost everything, but we decided to do more. So we are putting in another $25000. His mom is selling some land and giving us money to use as a down payment on a house though.

My siblings and I (with our spouses) have all paid for our own weddings, honeymoons, homes, etc. My parents paid for my dress :) Our parents did give us generous gifts though.

We are paying for everything, but the following: My wedding gown is my mom''s gift to me; The bridal bouquet, which my mom is paying for as well; Our honeymoon is my FH''s parents gift to us. The $$ factor is the reason we waited 5 years before tying the knot and why we had an 18 month engagement. I don''t regret one minute of waiting (I can say that now!), and would never expect my parents to pay for my wedding now that I am a successful, 29-year old professional who been on my own for several years, plus the fact I am one of 6 children and my parents are still putting 2 through college. But what makes it easier at the end of it all, is that we already own our house. :)

Parents paying
My parents paid for the entire wedding pretty much. My father and mother, who are divorced, split the cost of the wedding costs. I paid for my veil/headpiece, shoes, slip, and the favors. My father-in-law paid for the church fees, rehearsal dinner and part of the flowers (he read a bunch of wedding books that talked about the parents of the brides financial responsibilities) -- so he paid for my bouquet, and half the boutineers and corsages. My father paid for the honeymoon. Most of my friends parents paid for their weddings. But many of us are only children. I could see how having several kids would make it nearly impossible to pay for all the kids weddings.

My fiance and I are paying for most of it ourselves with some help from my parents. His father, (his mom passed away) can't afford to help us with the reception, so his contribution is that he is converting the entire upstairs of his house into an apartment for us to live in at reduced rent than we are both paying now.Welcome New Vendors
