Just curious as to whether money dictated the decision, the love of the season, work related...
For us it was money and easier to take off from work.

Re: Poll-Why a winter wedding
2 of the best weddings we went to were the day after Thanksgiving...The hall is decorated for the holidays and its the unofficial start of the Christmas season!! The happiest and most romantic time of the year in my opinion!!

Re: Poll-Why a winter wedding
so many reasons, it's hard to answer the poll
In no particular order ... * loved the decorations for that time of year * cost effective * if I wanted a fall wedding I would have had to wait until october 2005 to save money * we got engaged in August 2003 and knew we needed about 16-18 months to save (we married in 17 months) * My husband couldn't justify the SAME wedding at different prices throughout the year. He kept asking the banquet managers, but what do I get in June or September that I don't get in January and the BM said everyting is the same. The price difference was over $50 per person I think. * DH didn't want to 'sweat' in a tux. * I married on my late grandmother's birthday
Those are just a few of the many reasons for the winter wedding.

Re: Poll-Why a winter wedding
The differences in pricing is so crazy that we had to go with it! I know it is a gamble for the winter with weather, but in my opinion, weather can really always be bad. Also did not ever want a wedding in the hotter months because I fear I would be sweating the entire time!

Re: Poll-Why a winter wedding
1. Cost - we were able to book the hall we wanted at the price we wanted
2. I was hoping it might snow
3. We didnt want to sweat and I certainly did NOT want to deal with humidity
4. I wanted a season neutral wedding

Re: Poll-Why a winter wedding
Loved, loved, loved the winter. So many amazing ideas you can do with a winter wedding. Knew that I really hated being 'hot' and so I didn't want to suffer all day. Wanted xmas carols during dinner/ cocktail hour. It's our favorite time of year! And I didn't notice any change in price in December. I wish it was cheaper!

Re: Poll-Why a winter wedding
FH is currently a second year law student and January was the only time that we could go on a honeymoon without affecting possible employment post law school. I would have waited for August 2007, but he didn't want to.
Eta - it's nice not having to book a vendor really early - no one's fighting for their time on my date.

Re: Poll-Why a winter wedding
i'm pretty much similiar to the brides here.
1 - Cost. Could not see spending 50-75% more per person just cause it was on a Sat. night in June versus a Sunday day in Feb. (what we chose)
2 - Needed a long time to save for wedding, cause FH and I are handling all expenses because we do not want our families to give us a dime, that way we have complete say in all wedding decisions.
3 - We met in February, and by the day we will get married, we will have been together exactly 5 yrs. and 10 days.
4 - FH will be a part of the NYPD by then (he is currently in the academy, and will graduate in Jan. 06) and being a rookie, he'll only have the choice of Jan - Feb. for vacation, and that will work out for us better.
