I am having my ceremony and reception at Oheka. If the weather is good, the ceremony will be held outside. If it rains, it will be in the dining room. If it rains, the guests will not be able to see any of the outside grounds.
Some brides reserve a tent for the outside and then get married inside of that tent if it rains. At least then, the guests see the outdoors. If it doesn't rain, then there is no need for the tent and they don't put it up.

If it doesn't rain, wouldn't your guests walk around and see the grounds?
Call me crazy, but staring at the grounds from a tent while it's raining wouldn't do much for me. I'd rather be inside during inclement weather, as a bride or as a guest.

No....The tent would only be put up if it rains! If it doesn't rain, then there would not be a tent.

How much is the tent? Do you think your guests would be upset if they couldn't see the grounds? I wouldn't even think twice about going to a wedding in the rain and be upset about not seeing the grounds.

I am not concerned about the money. I am sure that it would not be that much. Normally, I would not care about the grounds. But half of Oheka's beauty is from their gardens.

And if it doesn't rain, your guests have the opportunity to walk around the grounds, correct?
If it does rain, they're basically stuck under the tent, right? How much can you really see of the grounds sitting/standing under a tent?
IMO, I'd rather be inside for rainy weather.

I agree. Will the tent be right at the door where you walk out? Or will you and your guest have to walk through the rain to get to it?

I say skip the tent. even if there was a tent I would get married inside if it was raining. Ot just put it up so people can go out during CH or to smoke and scope out the grounds

Re: Poll: Would you...
does it take away or add to the setup?
is it something that can be put up quickly? if so, i would have it as a backup and then decide last minute (day of) if it should go up or not. we are planning to have our cocktail hour outside at our venue and depending on the weather and wind they will decided day of what they are going to do...

Re: Poll: Would you...
When we were looking at catering halls, we saw Oheka with the tent set up off the old ballroom (this was before construction on the new ballroom was completed); we thought it took a great deal away from the castle. Also, my recollection is that you can see a fair amount of the grounds from the windows inside - were it to rain, as a guest, I would prefer to look out from the window - I think you would get a better view *without* the tent.

That is what I am talking about. I guess I am having a hard time explaining myself.

If you feel more assured having it 'just in case', then why wouldn't you have it for backup? Why even present the question?
Do you intend to have the tent decorated for your ceremony?
I wouldn't even consider the tent an option unless you plan to have it decorated and I would imagine this has to be preplanned with your florist and such. Being married outdoors in beautiful weather or in the castle itself is one thing, but to be married in an undecorated tent outdoors on a rainy day will take away from an extravagant wedding.
